I am a smartass, a badass, and sometimes a jackass.
My Self-Summary
I've got most of my life pretty well squared away -- my family and
friends are great, I have a job that I love, I like where I live.
My spare time is spent mostly on movies, cooking or going out to
dinner, hiking, and reading. I run most days, although admittedly
not very far. I like all sorts of games (to that one person who
emailed me: no, I'm not talking about the playing-with-your-head
kind. OR AM I??). I love motorcycles and ride mine
everywhere.
I once almost drove a car into the Grand Canyon. As a young boy I
was attacked by a pack of ravenous kangaroos. I have a Top Secret
government security clearance. I was struck by lightning a couple
of years ago. While in Hong Kong as a teenager, some stranger tried
to recruit me into a child-pornography ring. One of those things
isn't true. If you correctly guess which one, I'll leave a comment
in your profile saying you're brilliant and beautiful.
I'm interested in someone smart and funny. I don't care that much
what you do for a living or where you are politically, as long as
you've thought about why you are where you are. Hopefully you like
motorcycles. Update: I'm going to amend that "I don't care what you
do for a living or where you are politically" bit. If your politics
could be described as, say, "revolutionary socialist" or
"neoconservative," you should move right along. Also, if your job
is something like "drug dealer," you should probably look at my job
before you email me and tell me that.
PS I was just looking at my profile, and on the right it says I'm
similar to some guy whose main photo is his sixpack abs. I am not
similar to that guy. Honest. For one thing, I don't have sixpack
abs.
What I’m doing with my life
For work, I'm a criminal prosecutor, which I love. Outside of that,
I'm enjoying life, traveling more, and trying out this OKCupid
thing.
I’m really good at
Avoiding direct answers to questions like this one. Although I'm
pretty good at Guitar Hero. And trials.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I could fill the entire internet with this answer. I read a LOT, so
it's tough to pick my favorite books. I usually read fiction (often
science fiction), history, and philosophy. I read a lot of books
about critical thought, skepticism, and how people's belief and
memory systems work. And police reports. Loads of police reports.
The last book I read was "Cryptonomicon," current reads are "The
Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark," and "The
Time-Traveler's Wife."
I'm a big movie guy, so again it would be hard to pick my
favorites. The best movies of 2007 were No Country for Old Men and
Zodiac. Best movies of 2006 were Pan's Labyrinth and Children of
Men. It would be impossible for me to settle on the best movies of
all time. I loved the Lord of the Rings movies, everything by the
Coen brothers, and just about anything put out by Pixar. The
Princess Bride, 12 Monkeys, The Sixth Sense, Secretary, Kissing
Jessica Stein, Wag the Dog, I could go on and on. I will see pretty
much anything with Robert Downey Jr. in it no matter how bad it
looks. If Uwe Boll filmed Robert Downey Jr. taking a dump, I would
probably go see it in IMAX.
I listen to a fair amount of music but I'm not INTO music the way a
lot of people are -- mostly I listen to Jack FM, KROQ, that sort of
thing. I'm a huge They Might Be Giants fan.
The six things I could never do without
1. I'm tempted to put stuff like "food, water, air," but I bet
everyone makes that joke.
2. I'm not sure what I really could NEVER do without. I would put
"my family" because they're the most important thing to me, but if
they all died in a plane crash I would still go on with my
life.
3. So I guess the honest answer is "nothing."
4. But if what you really want to know is what things are the most
important to me, I'd say immediate family (parents & brother),
my work, books, and I dunno, the internet. Am I allowed to put
abstract concepts like "liberty" and "justice"? Does that make me
sound like the Pledge of Allegiance?
5. I mean, do people put stuff like "coffee" or "snooze alarm"
here?
6. This is a weird and broken question. That's my final answer.
On a typical Friday night I am
Saturday is the time I like to go out to movies and dinner and
whatnot. Fridays I usually unwind from the week by talking to
friends, watching DVDs, playing games, maybe cooking at home.
Unless when talking to my friends, they say "Let's go out." Then I
go out.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
Obviously anything I'm wiling to "admit" to the entire Internet is
not really that private to begin with, so look elsewhere for your
titillation, you prying weirdo.
You should message me if
You are Angelina Jolie and have finally come to your senses about
that Brad Pitt character and decided to try dating a real
man.
Or if you just feel like it. What's the worst that could
happen?
NEW! You can now take
The ULTIMATE Rywill Compatibility Test. Not sure whether we'd
get along? This test will put all your fears to rest so you can
sleep at night.
PS Just kidding Brad Pitt. I think you're pretty manly.
