My self-summary
I am a single professional, low drama, straight shooter. I own my home in East Cobb. My interests include cooking, outdoor activities, life hacking, and exploring. I am an engaged parent of two teen-age sons. I have a quirky sense of humor. I sometimes lean towards a healthy lifestyle, although I surely enjoy good food and beer.

I have enjoyed learning new life-hacking skills such as cooking from scratch and roasting my own coffee. YouTube is one of the greatest inventions ever: I have learned how to drive a Bobcat, paint trim, and make a tiramisu. My son and I recently constructed a potato cannon from PVC pipe, BBQ sparker, and hairspray--it's really impressive!

Chemistry, sparks, are important. My preference is to meet as soon as possible. A meeting at a cafe, park bench, the mall, is perfect for that. I'm always excited to meet a date. If it's not working between us, it's OK say thank you and leave. Other than politeness, we don't owe each other anything.

If we choose to date I enjoy going out on the town as much as anyone, to a point. I also like fun experiences where we are doing something together: a trip to the grocery store followed by preparing a meal together. Doing a simple house project. Enjoying a bottle of wine and making out on the couch because we can't help ourselves. Now that's a fun date! ;-)

I'm attracted to women who are confident, in good physical shape, possess an intellectual curiosity, and a healthy suspiciousness of the status quo. A person who is thoughtful, kind, a joy to be around.
What I’m doing with my life
I was an inpatient RN for 10 years. Last year I started a new job in health information technology. I'm taking a few grad school courses related my that. I recently discovered MeetUp, and am enjoying meeting people and discovering new places.
I’m really good at
Listening. Communicating. Getting things done. I'm OK with not knowing, OK with trying out uncomfortable. I f*** up all the time and I'm all the better for it. Becoming increasingly humble with each birthday.
The first things people usually notice about me
I am tall. I have aged quite well. Depending on my hair on any given day, I have heard fairly often that I resemble either Jim Carrey or Kevin Bacon.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I enjoy a good movie. I love listening to RadioLab and NPR. TED Talks are a fabulous source of inspiration. I don't watch much TV. I like irreverent comedy such as Louis CK, George Carlin, Bill Burr, Amy Schumer. I read blogs. Recently I haven't been reading a lot of books. Tolstoy is on my bucket list. I listen to all kinds of music, I most enjoy Rock n' Roll up through early 2000s.
The six things I could never do without
Extraordinary coffee. Dark chocolate. Financial security. Physical touch. A top-of-the-line chef's knife. Iron skillet.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Solving problems. How to bring joy into a busy life. How to take a break from thinking too much--yoga helps with that. And of course, what's for dinner?
On a typical Friday night I am
On Friday I'm usually crashing from exhaustion. The weekends with my boys, we're always up to something. Other week nights I may be catching up with a friend, out on a date, a MeetUp, or home projects. Doing whatever catches my attention.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Half the fun of dating is getting to know each other! Interesting question...

I have had more diverse life experiences than many. I've experienced a lot, I've seen a lot. I've been a soldier, a professional business writer, political organizer, a registered nurse. I've joined start-ups and big corporations to get rich--neither strategy worked out as planned. I've taken time away from work to pursue various interests--blogging, yoga, etc. My life could be described in a lot of ways; sheltered and boring isn't among them.

In retrospect I wasn't a great husband or partner in my marriage. I was a jerk. I can see it now. I try to learn from my mistakes. I like to think I'd do better the next time.

I suck at keeping house. I'm a bachelor and I take advantage of it. I follow my interests and projects--keeping house isn't a priority. Until it is. Then I'll get into a I-can't-stand-it-anymore frenzy, like when I'm expecting a special someone over for company ;-), and then I'll whip it all back into shape. Only to start all over again. I figure this practice keeps me interesting... ;-) that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

I want to meet women who, like me, are ready, willing, and open to the possibility of falling in love, finding their life partner.
