I am a jack of all trades, master of none, and optimistic.

My Self-Summary

"Well, that sounds like a recipe for disaster" said the emergency room nurse. The recipe was a thousand square feet of plastic sheeting and 5 gallons of vegetable oil, which resulted in a broken nose for me and a puddle of oil on the floor of the emergency room as I stood there in a dripping pair of board shorts. That was my first (and hopefully last) attempt at going down an oil-based slip-n-slide standing up, but definitely not my last adventure.

I'm down to try anything, but I tend to do a half-assed job of it: In preparing for my first marathon, I never got around to running further than 11 miles. I completed an ironman, but paused in the middle to get a massage. I telemark like zoolander. The first time I went kite surfing without an instructor I launched the kite the perfectly wrong way and got dragged down the beach. I bought an awesome pogo stick in hopes of learning how to do a backflip on it, but lost interest.

What I’m doing with my life

During the week I write software for an awesome company. I've worked in software since I was 17 and I love it. That said, I think it makes for pretty boring conversation and I'd much rather think about other stuff when I'm not at work.

Although I get a whopping five weeks of vacation per year, I'm incredibly miserly with my time off so that I can take more trips. Therefore I take weekend trips to places half way around the world, work from offices all over the world, and time my trips during big holidays to maximize vacation time.

I’m really good at

Throwing parties.

Talking.

Lying in dolores park.

Traveling light.

The first things people usually notice about me

My eyes.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

A Thousand Splendid Suns, Middlesex, Kavalier and Clay, The Art of Happiness

Remains of the Day, State and Main, Harold and Kumar, Best in Show

(this changes all the time) Feist, Mercury Rev, Wilco, The Shins

buffalo wings, burritos, potatoes, broccoli, matzoh ball soup, hummous, salade olivier, falafel

The six things I could never do without

friends, potatoes, girls, snow, sunshine, the ocean

On a typical Friday night I am

Staying out way too late or driving to tahoe.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I am simultaneously terrified and fascinated by bears.

You should message me if

You want to learn to hang-glide, try out a squirrel suit, or something else equally foolish.

You're fun and awesome.
