Raised in NYC, with early childhood sojourns to the high desert of Northern New Mexico. I crave and love the two sorts of connectedness that come from city living and wild places. Just returned from Dinner on the bike: loving Denver more and more.
As a kid growing up in New York City, I spent a lot of time in solo exploration. My mom was an eccentric artist (is that a delicate enough euphemism?) of varying degrees of success and we often lived on the bleeding edge of gentrification. I found solitude on roof tops, cutting school and exploring the midtown Manhattan Public Library, and experienced my first kiss in the snow covered park that surrounds the Cloisters. The joy of finding calm a midst chaos or stress is a recurring theme in my life. (See ER nursing and rock climbing.)
For the most part, I am a happy, well adjusted adult. I'm a bit of a happy neurotic. I wish I was like this guy:
but in fact I'm more like this guy:
Either way, life's a beautiful mess that keeps getting better.
