My self-summary
I've been called by at least one person who's known me as "the most unique person (they've) known."* I don't know how true that is or to demonstrate that in this forum. But as another user here put it, how do you summarize someone? Particularly yourself. We are all different people to everyone else. Perhaps that's being evasive, but I'm not adept at selling myself, and may be wary of those who are.
*Yes, that's incorrect usage.

I guess I'm opinionated, but I've learned to be expository enough, to sugar coat things, or at least flavor them, so as to minimize offense.

I am sentient, human, and qualitative

What I’m doing with my life
Trying to avoid oppression and hoping others do the same. Sometimes helping others in that way. Doing what I say I'm going to do, sometimes at great inconvenience, but sometimes by not committing to something unless I'm sure I can and am going to do it. Trying to be flexible, knowing that is the key to our evolution.

Working, sleeping, socailizing, reading, going for walks (even the cliched long walk on the beach- although more likely a walk to the beach), trying to enjoy life in the city and the bay area are among the main things that take up my time. I've only been to one other continent (Australia) but hope to travel more in the future.

I’m really good at
Well, I am well-read and often articulate, physically strong and agile, so things that require those abilities. Some people find me incredibily funny (although there are no great jokes in this profile), but humor is quite subjective. The funniest things are only funny to about six people, i.e. inside jokes. There might be a few other things...

The first things people usually notice about me
Whatever I'm doing at the moment. Besides that, probably my face and my hair. Next would be the way I communicate. I can be fairly articulate in person.

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Reading:

Looking at my bookshelf- some of what I see include Cervantes, Whitman, Steinbeck, Flannery O'Connor, Confederacy of Dunces, Margaret Atwood, Douglas Adams, Sherman Alexie, David Sedaris and lots of books on urban planning, poltics, economics, history, philosophy and much other non-fiction. Over the years I've forced myself to read some of the classics, but I know I'll probably never empty the canon.

Generally I don't like Horror or Musicals, and I'm a comedy snob- many of the most popular comic actors today I think are not funny. I can often intuit whether I'm going to like a movie or not. I'm open to independent and documentary films a bit more than most hollywood stuff (hollydreck?)

Music- So much, and genre labels are unhelpful and often out of date. "Soul/ Neo-Soul", "Funk", "Hip-Hop without rap" "Rock (Southern, Indie, Pop, Blues, Metal)" "Jazz", "Reggae" and other genres from Africa and Latin America. I like music made by people and their instruments, by bands. Some computer geherated music is ok but it's not usually the same. Also some symphonic/orchestral music, but I prefer small ensemble classical better. I like to feel and hear the bass, I like the brass (horns), I like multilple guitars. Drums and the all-important rhythm and the sound of an appealing or at least distinctive singing voice are among the things I listen for in music. I'm also a sucker for a powerful melody or evocative mood. I have a small amount of musical training, so I'm sometimes impatient with something that's carelessly done. I don't know, maybe it's easier just to go down a list of artists. Maybe later.

Food: The main thing is sourcing, namely how well something is brought into being as food. I'm quite Northern Californian in that way, although I am very far from the best informed on these issues. Individual dishes I most prefer include cornbread, raw oysters, cooked oysters, more shellfish, homemade meatballs and tomato sauce, grass fed beef, green salads, asparagus, jerk chicken, empanadas, rye bread. I cook but don't bake much.
I'm not a vegan or vegetarian as you can tell, but I can definitely eat that way and respect those people who do it full time. Cuisines that like in general include so-called Californian, other regional American, Bistro French, Pan-Mediterrean, Caribbean, various Latin American, Spanish, Vietnamese, Sushi, and Tapas/Small plates.

The six things I could never do without
Oxygen (but not too much), Water (again not too much), Food , Shelter , Sense of Survival , ? (I'll think of something later)

(Have thought about getting rid of this smartass answer, but I'll keep it- it's still true and one can do without in the end with a lot of things
