I continue to do work that interests and satisfies me and provides a little excitement now and then...I'm kind of in a front row seat to the New York parade. I'm independent, well-educated. Interested in a lot of things, a polyglot reader...2-3 books at a time.
A continuing main interest has been American history. Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Franklin, etc. are my boys...can go down almost any road with them (ever been to Monticello? see the wonderful things Lewis & Clark brought back for him?). I'm a democrat, small "d". Roots of that I now realize come from being a naturalized citizen and knowing a bit about places where there wasn't anything near a tiny "d".
Early TriBeCa and Soho settler. Not an artist, but many were my friends, one was my wife....another is my daughter.
New York centric for sure. Have gone many places, never for long, always been here.
Drove along the Baltic coast from Tallinn to Parnu to Riga this past August with my son. Love to drive and explore....a gene my son inherited.
I have been on almost every main, secondary and tertiary road in upstate Sullivan County...and a number of dirt logging roads.
Cooking is a pleasure, more so when there's someone there to appreciate it (a few notable house specials).
But restaurant dining is the real article of faith in NY. We all go to that church. Cuisine? Sushi are us.
Women who are smart, kind, tend to family and friends, attractive, physically graceful and comfortable with themselves...that all appeals to me. I gravitate to independent and creative types who try not to be too serious about themselves. I see no mention of humor here...funny is good, preferable. No formula.
Asking for a lot, but don't want to settle for someone I can't admire. For me, that's where love will come from.
Movies: Lincoln, Argo, Silver Linings, Amour, A Man & A Woman. Apocalypse Now, Deerhunter, Platoon....plus another 500..this is too much like work.
Music: All over the place. ......Well, not completely..I Stop at Hip Hop. But when you can put the lyrics in front of me, rap can be pretty significant, just not my thing (big surprise, ja?). You can endless loop Arvo Part for me. Dylan has always been someone I could listen to (but not in the car w when my daughter was 9 or10...."Dad, please, do we have to listen to Whiney-Man any more?").
My daughter, my son.
Used to be the NYT...but mostly over that.
