Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Programmer by day, and (quite frequently) at night as well, I
develop web applications. I can't imagine doing anything else. On
days I don't get to write sweet code, it really takes a toll on
I can shamelessly say that my cat brings me an inordinate amount of
joy. He is, quite possibly, the cuddliest. Shy around new people,
he spends much of his time sleeping inside box springs. He warms up
to people (relatively) quickly though.
A good deal of my weekends are spent working on my house. It's a
bit of a fixer upper. Or maybe a lot of one, but there's lot to
learn and I enjoy learning. Other than that I'm working though a
lot of different shows. I think I watch more since I got rid of
cable than I did before cutting the cord. Gaming is another
favorite hobby, but I don't do much of it, and I could use some
I don't travel much, but I'd like to. I have family in Scotland.
Internationally, I've only really been there, so I'd welcome an
opportunity to change that.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Working towards the dream... having a bathtub deep enough to
properly soak in. I wish I were kidding.
As mentioned above, I program for a living (and for pleasure), so
that's a (really) big part of my life.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
If you were to ask my cat, he'd say I give a mean belly rub.
If you were to ask my coworkers, they would say I write some sweet
If you were to ask my friends, they'd say I roll an awesome D&D
character, or any other suitable gaming compliment.
Personally though, I'd rather focus on getting better at things I'm
less skilled at. I can be a bit of a perfectionist.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
- Ender's Game
- Snow Crash
- Incarnations of Immortality
- Harry Potter (my childhood!)
I'm really bad at picking up new books, but recommendations
- The collective Marvel Cinematic Universe
- Ocean's Eleven
- Tron Legacy
I like a ton of movies, and I'll watch almost anything. I have a
hard time with horror movies, though. They usually put me to sleep.
The "good" ones at least make me laugh.
- Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D
- Silicon Valley
My list of shows is a rotating list, but I'm still very happy with
all the shows above. I wasn't too keen on the finale of HIMYM, but
the series as a whole is still great.
- The Offspring
- Rise Against
- Lots of Pop and Rock
I'm not huge on music. I enjoy it, and I have preferences, but I
don't spend a lot of time 'just' listening to music. In the car,
shower, or out for a walk sure, but not frequently otherwise.
I love lots of different foods, but there is a really good change
that if the place serves breakfast, that's what I'm ordering. I'm
slowly learning to be a better cook at home. Currently, I'm on a
big sea food kick.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I tried to keep this list free of the "boring" things, but I
seriously use my phone everyday, so it goes on the list.
1. Source control
2. Wawa diet green tea
4. A stove
5. Messenger bags
GPS phone with a data plan
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Work, and by extension, programming. Cute kitten pictures. Food.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Watching Netflix, writing code, gaming (PC, PS4, Xbox 360), arts
and crafts, managing a server, having a beer, hanging out... It
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have a tendency to favor smaller (tea) spoons to larger (table or
bigger) spoons. When I was young, I got a soup spoon stuck behind
my teeth. Nowadays I don't even think about it, but I guess it's
subconscious at this point.
A waitress once begged my friends and I to pay so she could go
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You should message me if you want to do something nerdy, go
somewhere fun, or just chat.
I'd like to meet someone who I have some things in common with, but
not everything. Someone who will show/teach me something new. If
you can give me a new hobby, you can make me very happy. A person
who complements me. (I won't turn down compliments either, though)
Someone who will give me some space when I need it, or even just
needs some of their own periodically would be nice too.
You should not, however, message me to ask where to find drugs.
Yeah, that actually happened. Update: Twice!
