I'm a self-diagnosed nerd who loves food, coffee, enthralling books, video games, robotics, design, movies, tasty beer, sarcasm, and oxford commas.

I grew up outside of Halifax, NS and went to Dalhousie University in the city to study Engineering. While there I ran around doing the foolish things teenagers do and either getting too little or too much sleep. After I graduated I decided I needed a change of pace and so I moved to Montreal to pursue a life of hedonism.

I tend to be silly, talkative when I want to be, and ocasionally a little crass. I'm equally enthusiastic about adventures to see mysterious shows or another long night spent rambling with friends about everything from world politics to which particular '90s cartoon theme song perfectly defined our childhood. I also love run-on sentences.

I've only been in Montreal for 6 months or so, so I'm still in the process of running around and exploring all that this beautiful city has to offer while brushing up on my French.

I'm currently working in a non-engineering position to support myself as I get settled.

Ah! Books! I have a lot of favourites, I tend to occupy the Sci-fi/Fantasy genres pretty reliably. I love The Gentlemen Bastards series, Greg Bear, The Uplift Trilogy, Miles Vorkosigan Series, Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman, and many more that I can't remember off the top of my head. In the non-fiction area I tend to love books by some of my favourite scientists. The Demon-Haunted World and Surely You're Joking Mr. Feynman are some of the most important books I've read.

I have been told many times that I'm woefully ignorant of a huge section of films and I'm slowly working on fixing that. I love Miyazaki movies, Akira, Catch Me If You Can, Terminator 2, Drive, Cabaret, Fight Club, Almost Famous, Gattaca, and the list goes on. I have an ever-present weakness for Disney, Pixar, and Tarantino films.

Current shows: Sherlock, Adventure Time, How I Met Your Mother (Largely for NPH), Star Trek TNG, Firefly, Archer, and Top Gear.

Music! I know it's the common answer but I do tend to be all over the place, my music collection contains everything from bluegrass, to glitch-hop , to indy-rock. Some of my favourite bands are: Aesop Rock, Arcade Fire, Amanda Palmer, The Black Keys, The Cat Empire, Dragonette, Hard-Fi, Hey Rosetta!, Iron & Wine, Ok Go, Ratatat, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Yeasayer.

I find people really interesting, I tend to think about how weird/awesome they are a lot.

At one of my close friends' apartment hanging out, drinking some craft beer, smoking some sisha, and just talking or watching a movie.

Sometimes I have a hard time relating to people I don't know very well, it can make me come across as shy or cold. I warm up considerably as I get more comfortable.
