Could Evolution and Intelligent Design both be right?

This question isn't worded correctly (my way of giving its author the benefit of the doubt and not just calling him/her dumb) as evolution is a scientific fact. The common misconception is that the theory of evolution implies that evolution is a theory; the theory of evolution really means the theory of evolution via natural selection. The part that is debated is whether or not natural selection caused evolution or whether it was intelligent design, or some other catalyst. They even teach evolution in catholic schools now as far as I'm aware.
