I am anyway, anyhow, and anywhere I choose..
My Self-Summary
I've led a life less ordinary for just over three decades now, and
even as I kid I knew I was the black sheep of the family, along
with the classroom... and perhaps the entire neighborhood. I had
and still have a very smart mouth, but I [almost] always use my
powers for good.
Raised in a strict Catholic upbringing, I would've surely perished
if it weren't for outside influences like inappropriate music and
cable TV. Regardless of the outcome, I didn't grow up trying to be
rebellious... it was more like a side effect of environmental
factors. Learning the hard way that San Diego wasn't the city for
me, I broke free and moved to LA just just over six years ago:
"Just another freak... in the freak kingdom."
Fast forward to present day and I'm far more comfortable in my day
to day life, one might even deem me worthy of the definition "laid
back." Still a bit abrasive sometimes, but I'm told it can be quite
amusing to watch unfold. I've been called a character, a cynic,
clever, an iconoclast, sarcastic, stubborn, and a born critic...
and I've been called far worse. It's never stopped me from trying
to explain my view on things, and I tend to find kinship with
liberal, open-minded people over traditional and conservative
types.
You only live once, and I think my philosophy is best described as
working towards rich experiences over working for riches alone.
That being said, there are times I work my ass off... usually to
fund the next rich experience.
I've been single for just under a year now, and I'm still not
looking for too much too soon. Other than that, I don't have any
restrictions on who I want to meet or who I'll accept emails from.
Don't be shy, I've seen and done many... things.
Let me just say this: Unlike many disclaimers I've seen on the bios
here, I think outrageous emails are, at the very least,
entertaining.
What I’m doing with my life
I work in quality assurance for the video game industry and
naturally I'm an avid player myself. I had a great deal of overtime
earlier this year before the work dried up for a bit, and during
that down time I worked on a few side projects. Most notable of
those was signing on as a DJ for NewEdenRadio.com. You can hear me
there from 9am to noon on Sundays, Pacific Standard Time.
I’m really good at
...crushing my enemies! Sorry, couldn't resist.
Let's see, obviously I'm pretty good at games, but not just the
ones behind a screen. I grew up with board games and I learned to
play cards at a very young age, getting both of my brothers
allowances on particularly good runs of poker. I even beat the
poker brat himself, Phil Hellmuth, at a convention a few years ago.
It was an exhibition, mind you, so no cash but I got a nice poker
set out of it and made him sign a deck of cards along with the
words "Cali rules" since he was trash talking California at the
time. He's actually a pretty nice guy once you get past the
ego.
I'm good at writing too damn much in these questionnaires, as you
can tell... but writing's been an ongoing interest I've kept up
with... I was even published for some work I did years ago in an
anthology. I consider myself a good conversationalist and debater
as well, and can usually keep a conversation going with anyone
unless they're as dumb as a box of hair. That last sentence leads
me to the last and probably most noticable: being downright
snarkey. I can be tactful when the situation demands it, but I'm a
"straight, no chaser" kinda guy. Bonus points if you know where
that quote comes from.
I've got a great memory and can quote movies and songs fairly well.
People use me as a reference guide when a computer isn't around to
do it for them. I'd probably kick ass on a game show. I think on my
feet, my high school guidance counselor said I'd probably be a good
lawyer. I said that was fortunate since I'd probably need a good
one someday.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm tall, and I guess I look a little intimidating to some, so
sorry to say that's it. Used to just love heavy metal and still
listen to it, so the look stayed with me for a while and most of my
wardrobe is dark clothes. Moving to LA from San Diego helped me
blend in better, but every once in a while I'll turn a corner and
startle someone.
A lot of kids will see me on my bike and want to talk to me, but
the parents almost always give me that look like I'm one of the
Hell's Angels. Every once in a while I'll be a smart ass and ask
"Gonna ride a bike when you grow up, kid?" and they'll usually
scream "Yes!" and jump up enthusiastically as they say it. Parents
hate that... telling the kid they only need to be six years old to
take a dirt bike class usually pisses them off, too.

The six things I could never do without
Let's assume we all need oxygen and water and skip those two
obvious choices. Six things, huh? Alright, in no particular
order... here we go:
#1 - Music! Where would I be without it? There's a Velvet
Underground song called "Rock and Roll" that sums up my feelings on
the matter. As you'll see above, I listen to just about
everything.
#2 - Games. It's not just a profession for me, I've always loved
playing. My brothers and I were very competitive about them growing
up and I never grew out of them. Games have let me be everything
from a test pilot to a high seas pirate, and I'd have surely
perished in a terrible accident if I didn't have the ability to
lose thousands of lives in a game doing something crazy instead. I
think they're a wonderful outlet and never understood the people
that don't like them.
#3 - Freedom. I grew up in a strict environment, so doing my own
thing is very important to me. I say what I want, go where I want,
and do what I want. If this country got invaded, I'd probably end
up in some underground resistance rather than sit home
quietly.
#4 - Companionship. I don't mind being alone and even enjoy it
sometimes, but curling up in bed with someone is about as good as
it gets. A good conversation where you lose all track of time is
rather nice, too.
#5 - My computer. I've been typing into one of these things since
the mid 80s. I do a lot of stuff on mine, dabbled in everything
from programming to photoshop. My computer keeps me in touch with
everyone, helps me research stuff, you name it. Greatest invention
of our generation, hands down.
#6 - Humor. Isn't it obvious? I joke around all the time and
hearing people laugh is probably the most comforting and satisfying
way of interacting with people I can think of.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Women. Why do you think I'm here?!?
Other than that, you name it and I think about it. I try not to
obsess too much about politics or society, but I do think about
them. I guess you could say I'm a casual philosopher.
On a typical Friday night I am
Indoors. I'm a bit of a homebody. When I do go out, I usually try
to avoid big crowds and usually pick other weekdays because of
that. I can make an exception when it's a party or concert/event...
but I always preferred intimate gatherings to packed houses.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I used to stare at the TV with a gleam in my eye when Loonette from
The Big Comfy Couch was on. She was particularly tempting during
the "Time To Stretch" portion of the show where she'd lie down on a
mat that looked like a clock. She'd use her legs to represent
different times, and I always found anything from the hours of 9 to
3 quite suggestive.
You should message me if
...you've read this far. You passed the screening process and
didn't roll your eyes and call me a manchild. I'm pretty blunt and
this bio is designed to piss all the right people off. If you've
made to the end, why not write me? It's a social networking site
after all, isn't interaction the point?
