*** UPDATE - I sustained a serious back injury, an ugly fracture of the T-12 vertebrae a couple of months ago, and it has not healed well. As a result, I will be undergoing back surgery and will be out of commission for dating and on the mend for the next few weeks.

I'm not your average bear. If you know this expression we may be have a common jumping off point. Aside from sexual compatibility, cultural compatibility goes a long way towards getting each others jokes without a lot of explaining.

Brother to four sisters and while I am hopelessly heterosexual and one of the most libidinous, manly men you will ever meet, I have been told I some feminine traits.

Re-aligning my priorities after a series of life challenges and changes. Kids on their own - empty nest. Suburban home sold now a city dweller. Returning College Student. Grandfather-hood! I have a second grand child coming soon. I will be spending time in Asheville, NC with them and contemplating an extended stay or move there.

Noticing subtle details. Hearing is excellent and I am also a pretty good listener and conversationalist. I'm fairly loquacious, articulate and keen observer of human behavior. Curiosity drives me at times, on to paths and people and adventures that a less curious person would miss entirely. One of my professors called me an interlocutor. I thought that was an awesome complement. I am at ease with all races, cultures, and classes though tend towards high brow taste. Quality, character, history, and emotion define value of things rather than the mighty dollar. I'm really good at sailing, shooting pool and sex.

Please tell me. My smile perhaps. Or my physique? Greying hair?

I'm an avid reader of books - real books, and mostly, biography, history, historical fiction, nautical themed adventures combining all of the above i.e., Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey and Maturin Series - the best historical fiction ever written… Also been called the Jane Austen for men. Ha.

Recently, I inherited a family bookcase and library of century old, leather bound book sets of most of the classics. It belonged to my great grand parents who owned a book binding factory on Hudson Street.

Sadly, on a typical Friday night I am sleeping in preparation for a midnight to eight shift in the network tv news world. On the upside I have a lot of other time off...

I am pretty much an open book. In person I'd be happy to answer any question on any subject.

And I actually like women to make the first move. It really helps to clear up the confusion and is an actual turn on to me. I can take it from there.
