My self-summary
Were I a poet,
I would give you the twilight and her stars
and stay through the oblivion called the night
for you.

Were I a poet,
I would steal a humble little spark
and kindle it to become a brilliant light
for you.

Were I a poet,
I would be the champion of your heart
rather than the coward who could never fight
for you.

Were I a poet,
Your smile would inspire my art
And I would dedicate all I will ever write
for you.

For you, my muse…

Hello there. My name is Sam. Some people ask me what's it short for, and I say, "Well, it's only three letters long." Zing! Most of my buddies call me Sammy (which happens to be short for Sam). I've had my share of ups and downs, and though we all have our pasts, I'm the kind of guy that forgives and moves on. I still trust people and give them the benefit of the doubt. (No, not to the point of naiveté.)

I enjoy entertaining myelf at home, but I will also go out with friends, and may even have a couple of drinks with the crew if I am not the designated driver of the evening. I'll sing and dance and enjoy myself, and will playfully encourage my peers to do the same.

I am a well-mannered gentleman who has a need to make people comfortable and lack for nothing. I am liberal with my concern for others' well being, and I protect that which I hold dear. I provide for those I love and would rather choose to spend money on memorable experiences that are shared with loved ones than piss it away on trivial things that don't matter. Incidentally I'm not really into gambling or binge drinking, or other activities that can drain your life rather than enrich it.

I enjoy games of all sorts, whether they are board games, card games, dice games, video games, or role-playing games (like D&D and Star Wars RPG). Yes, I'm a geek. I like to take in the occasional live sports game, but I'm not a superfan. I read for fun, and enjoy fantasy and science-fiction primarily, with the occasional mystery or classic tossed in, but I'll give any book a chance if it is recommended to me. My buddy recently recommended Begin to Exit Here by John Welter, and it was pretty awesome.

I have a poet's heart, and sometimes convey my thoughts in written form. I like waking to the feel of sunshine on my face, as well as hunkering down in sun-dappled blankets on a lazy day off. I like to close my eyes and listen to the storm as rain pounds relentlessly on the roof above. I appreciate the darkness before dawn and the enchanted colors of twilight. I like to walk barefoot on grass and I like wet sand between my toes. I enjoy the imagery of prose and poetry and tend to be verbose when writing... nawww... you think? ;)

I was raised on the Big Island of Hawaii. The islands are a beautiful place to explore, and I'd love to go back and see everything and visit everyone again. I can remember times when my nightlight was a 1,500 ft. tall lava fountain that painted the sky a ruddy orange.

I am kind, intelligent, honest, magnanimous, confident, and I'll rock your world.
What I’m doing with my life
I love my career in Customer Service. I just also happen to work for my favorite game company, which does not hurt in the slightest. Not everyone in the world can actually have the job of their dreams, so I count myself lucky that I've had the opportunity and skill to excel at mine.

I spend time with friends and family, and I'm close to those I love. I'm a gamer and play RPG's like D&D, Star Wars, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Serenity with friends when the mood strikes us. I am currently running a D&D game, a Star Wars game, and playing in the D&D Next playtest when I can. Other tabletop games? Cards Against Humanity, Scrabble, Betrayal at House on the Hill, RoboRally, Cranium, Pictionary, Zombies, and Apples to Apples are current favorites. When it comes to video games, I currently enjoy Angry Birds, Words with Friends, The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, Borderlands 2, and the Dragon Age series. I cut my teeth on the Final Fantasy, Diablo, and Black Isle D&D series' (which includes Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, and Planescape: Torment). I also used to play MMOs like Anarchy Online, City of Heroes, and World of Warcraft, but no longer find those particular timesinks worth my precious time.

I haven't yet, but I want to eventually travel the world. I'm fascinated with older cultures and their art and architecture. I'd also like to experience all manner of ethnic foods and activities in the countries where they originated. I only get to be Sam once. Why not make it interesting?

Finally, I've put a bit of time and effort into seeking a mate. I'd love to experience a life-long love affair with a woman who appreciates me.
I’m really good at
I'm good at listening and connecting with people. I'm good when things go bump in the night. I'm good at fun & games and I'm good at only one song when singing karaoke (you can decide which). I'm good at spelling and at misspelling. I'm trivial with trivia (I know a lot, but I'm not fast at spitting out answers quickly.) I'm good with Mother Nature, and treat her as well as I can. I'm also good at treating a woman like a Lady (and sometimes something more naughty, if she likes it).

I'm good at being forthright and genuine. I am sex-positive and enjoy intimacy as much as the next red-blooded human, but I prefer to be a strong, confident gentleman who's honest about his intentions rather than be an arrogant, conniving jerk who will lie to get what he wants. I am open to the possibility of a serious relationship if things feel right, after all, that's what I'm really looking for.

I'm good with adjectives. I like writing the rare bit of poetry that I craft. (The poem opening my profile is indeed mine.) I'm good at dreaming, and I'm good at living. And in case you haven't already noticed, I'm skilled at rambling. Oh, and my favorite kids think I'm a good uncle. I like to think they're right.
The first things people usually notice about me
It could be my perpetual grin, or my dark locks, or perhaps that the windows to my soul are hazel.

In regards to the dark locks, I used to have long black hair, up until January 10th, 2011 (a day that will live in infamy). Yes, it was hacked off, and I now have a more professional cut. It was quite a change. Some of my older pictures show the long hair, but I have a couple new ones up and I'll update the collection as newer pictures become available.

Perhaps you can tell me what you notice about me. I'm genuinely curious.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
The books I love off the top of my head (by no means a comprehensive list, of course) are The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkein, The Belgariad by David Eddings, Dragonlance Chronicles by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, The Legend of Drizzt by R.A. Salvatore and other books in the Forgotten Realms setting, Lord of the Flies, The Justicar trilogy (White Plume Mountain, Descent into the Depths of the Earth, and Queen of the Demonweb Pits) by Paul Kidd, The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher, the Harry Potter series by J.K. I'm also intrigued by Lovecraft. Last year a friend turned me onto Steven Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen series. I also enjoy reading fan fiction, stories, poetry, and comics that my friends write. I'd like to read your stuff as well, should we become acquainted with one another.

I enjoy Gamer flicks (often sci-fi/fantasy), movies worth quoting, MST3King terrible movies like "MANOS": The Hands of Fate! and The Room, blockbusters, movies that make a grown man cry, romantic comedies, slapstick, and... well.. I could go on forever I suppose.

I enjoy fun sci-fi, and smart and/or funny television like Firefly, Doctor Who, Buffy, Farscape, Stargate SG-1, House M.D., Friends, How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang Theory, Battlestar Galactica, Scrubs, Star Trek, Supernatural, Warehouse 13, Psych, Eureka, 30 Rock, Mad Men, Community, Outsourced, Chuck, The Office, Parks & Recreation, New Girl, Being Human, Dexter, Castle, Fringe The Walking Dead, True Blood, and as a guilty pleasure I am enjoying the triumphant return of Beavis and Butt-Head, and their new friends at Good Vibes.

I also enjoy some anime like Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Slayers, Ranma 1/2 (I own all 7 seasons), and Tenchi Muyo!

When it comes to music I'm a Metallica man. I'm also into Megadeth, Mindless Self Indulgence, Nirvana, Queensryche, Tenacious D, Rammstein, Disturbed, Foo Fighters, Garbage, Evanescence, System of a Down, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Weird Al, Def Leppard, Apocalyptica, Nine Inch Nails, Danzig, Tool, Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Cash, Led Zeppelin, Steppenwolf, Bad Company, Eric Clapton, Heart, Bon Jovi, Poison, Motley Crue, and much, much more. I like all sorts of alternative and classic rock, power ballads, various techno and industrial mixes, classical and fantasy symphonic pieces (It's amazing how much old cartoons borrow from old-school classical pieces), Midnight Syndicate, and much more.

When it comes to food, I enjoy expanding my culinary horizons. I'm always on the lookout for something I've never tried yet and I'll try anything at least three times. I'm very appreciative of someone who enjoys cooking, and I try my own hand at cooking here and there as well. Ultimately, my tastes are all over the place. Thai, Indian, Italian, Mexican, Chinese, Sushi, Hawaiian dishes like loco mocos and kalua pork, and of course American food. Simply put, I am an open-minded omnivore.

If you're curious about other things not on any of these incomplete lists, feel free to ask me.
The six things I could never do without
I could never do without the incredibly important people in my life who impact my existance greatly, dihydrogen monoxide, consumable rations, a nitrogen/oxygen-rich atmosphere, bow-chikka-bow-wow with a lovely female human, and hopefully the love of that female.

But the following six things are a close second: bound papers inscribed with runes that convey language and meaning, the feel of a natural 20, kind-hearted sarcasm, the knowledge that chicks dig me but are too shy to say so (Ha, right!), a wicked sense of humor, and my penchant for
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I think about Life, the Universe, and Everything. I think people just want to be happy. Whether by love, sex, money, spirituality, comfort, or being miserable. Life is about seeking contentment. I think if you've achieved that state of being when you leave this mortal coil, you've won the game.

I also do not believe that there is only one person out there for you. I think that Humanity is far more diverse and flexible than that. But I do believe that true love can be discovered. To me, true love is more of an awareness that hits you when you gaze into your partner's eyes and realize that your heart still soars as it did when you first met.

With this in mind, I believe that every fledgling romance should be approached as something spectacular and memorable. If the relationship doesn't work out, it was a wonderful experience in passion and learning about someone else as well as yourself. If the couple ends up growing old together, the story of the love affair that is their life should be a thing of legend. It should be a story that they would be proud to tell, and never tire of the telling. It should be a story that inspires others to seek such happiness. It should be something that their children will aspire to when they search for their own true love.

I also wonder what's around the next corner. I love exploring and discovering the wonders of the world.

I also like using uncommon words in everyday conversation, like mate, dire, voluminous, aegis, wield, peruse, dichotomy, vex, incongruous, oblivion, colloquial (Damn you colloquial! I will never forgive you!), and other terms. There are those who consider my vernacular to be... odd. :)
On a typical Friday night I am
Every other Friday, I'm hanging with some friends playing D&D. On opposite Fridays, I'll often be at home reading a novel, watching a TV show on DVD or On Demand, or just relaxing. Otherwise... maybe a movie? Maybe on a date with you?

It isn't unheard of for me to go out for drinks and/or karaoke with friends if we are feeling it. It's been a little while since I've done that though, as I don't do this stuff alone. It's purely social for me.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Even though I consider myself a decent guy with integrity, I'm just as playful, passionate, kinky, and GGG as you are.

Oh, and don't tell anyone, but I'm wicked awesome.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 26–39
  • Near me
  • For long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
... you got any of my inside jokes and want to chat with an imaginative geek just like you.

... or if you have any questions about anything I've written about. I promise I will not answer with the number 42 (unless applicable).

... or if you are a fiery goddess who seeks a man worthy of your attention, a man who would dare to brave the inferno that is your passion, and strive to kindle it even higher...

P.S. Because Awards are going away, and I think my buddy is really funny (and full of win), here is an Award that my friend "Effstop" gave me:
Friends In Real Life - Awarded Nov 28, 2011

“Listen up, and pay attention. Sammywyck wins. (if you agree, you also win.)

Yes, I know him in real life, and no, I won't give out his number. ($49.99 per digit, and we'll talk.)

Ladies, if you you aren't impressed by him, you can't be impressed. (And thus, fail.)

When the end of the world arrives, Sammy's on my list of badasses to survive it with. (If he's not on yours, you'll fail eventually...)

For further information, see: "Awesome" in the dictionary. (If his picture isn't there, that dictionary fails.)

That is all.

PS: Also, there are ninjas.”
