I am quiet, indecisive, and a homebody.

My Self-Summary

I tend to be a fairly quiet person (kinder folks will describe me as a good listener, and I do enjoy listening, or just being silent for that matter), though I like to think I've improved (as far as shyness) from the old days of middle/high school.

I spend a lot of time on the computer; I read various RSS feeds like blogs and webcomics, play video games, occasionally do some programming for fun, watch TV shows (e.g. on Hulu), and things like that.

Just because I'm a homebody doesn't mean I never like to get out... there are plenty of things in Atlanta that I'd like to see and do, given the right company.

What I’m doing with my life

I received my B.S. in Computer Science in 2008, and now I'm working as a software developer.

I’m really good at

Computers, mostly: my current profession and my passion since I was around six years old.

Aside from that, I can whistle with some proficiency (ever since I learned to play the trombone), and I'm probably above-average at Guitar Hero, Super Smash Brothers, and a few FPS games.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

My favorite authors are currently Madeline L'Engle, Orson Scott Card, Robert Heinlein, and Ursula LeGuin. I read a lot of L'Engle's books when I was younger (along with Lloyd Alexander and Robin McKinley); lately I've been trying to read all of the well-regarded sci-fi books that I've been missing: Heinlein, Card, Asimov, etc.

Some of my favorite books are: A Wizard of Earthsea, The Tombs of Atuan, Harry Potter, A Ring of Endless Light, A Swiftly Tilting Planet, Ender's Game, Speaker for the Dead, Chronicles of Narnia, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and The Lord of the Rings.

I haven't delved much into genres besides sci-fi and fantasy, but I'm open to recommendations.

I have a hard time getting into non-fiction (or maybe I'm just trying the wrong books), but I'm currently reading bits of “The Great Transformation: The Beginning of Our Religious Traditions” and “The Design of Everyday Things”.

My favorite movies are The Incredibles, The Lion King, Serenity, The Matrix, WALL-E and Spirited Away.

Some of my favorite series are Futurama, Firefly, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, The Daily Show, and Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. I like Good Eats, but I haven't seen that many episodes. I also enjoy some Anime; some of the series I've enjoyed are Escaflowne, FLCL, Haibane Renmei, and The Twelve Kingdoms, among quite a few others.
Lately I've really been enjoying Glee (I watch it on Hulu).

I like music from many genres, and I've been trying to listen to some new things on Pandora. It's a bit difficult to describe my musical tastes, so here is a sampling of songs and artists I like: Tchaikovsky; Beethoven; Brahms; The Planets by Gustav Holst; Rhapsody In Blue by George Gershwin; The Beatles; Peter, Paul & Mary; Daft Punk; Justice; Epica; Muse...
I like a number of songs from various musicals (e.g. West Side Story, Godspell, Wicked, Phantom of the Opera).
I love the soundtracks to The Lion King, Spirited Away, .hack//SIGN, and Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, and I enjoy the music from many other movies and series.
I also enjoy video game music, possibly out of nostalgia as much as anything else. My favorites are the music from Tyrian, Chrono Trigger, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (particularly the orchestrated version).

My favorite foods are sweet potato soufflé with pecans and my grandmother's dressing. I enjoy cooking to some extent; every once in a while I'll try to make something interesting.

The six things I could never do without

Books
Music
The Internet (This one I have done without, for a day or two at a time! It really interrupts your normal routines.)
Sweet tea
Air conditioning
All those other normal things that most of us take for granted
