I am sarcastic, kind, and unabashedly honest.
My Self-Summary
I like staying up and sleeping in, dining out and lying down in the
sun, getting lost and giving presents for no reason. I never hold
back a laugh, and I've got a wide mischievous streak.
I don't own a tv, but I still manage to follow a few shows. City
lights are beautiful, but I wish I could see the stars. I can be
wacky and irreverent, but sincerity and thoughtful discourse come
easily.
I like a quick and biting wit tempered by mutual respect, open
communication, and a kind touch. I'm not afraid of making a fool of
myself if the situation requires it.
I'm not looking for love, but I'm available if it finds me. In any
case, late-night hijinks and chocolate cake will be involved,
though cookies and NPR will do in a pinch.
p.s. My roommate
cutekip is on here, too. He's less of a
douche than he makes himself out to be. Really.
What I’m doing with my life
Journalism grad student and freelance writer.
I’m really good at
Making a fool of myself for other people's amusement.
Reading people and getting them to open up.
Cooking breakfast. Also other meals.
Witty and sarcastic banter.
DDR.
The first things people usually notice about me
The ubiquitous mahjong bracelet.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Good falafel, kale.
Anything by Bill Moyers, Arundhati Roy or Christopher Moore. Harry
Potter audiobooks while I work out. Seriously.
Currently I've got About a Boy, Amelie, The Big Lebowski, Dr.
Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, The Princess Bride, and Y Tu Mama
Tambien on my iPod.
I also have FLCL, The Venture Bros. and Firefly. I'd have Arrested
Development if I could fit it.
The six things I could never do without
Dawn at the beach, belly laughs, people-watching, sleeping in the
grass, games where nobody loses, wandering aimlessly but not
pointlessly.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Miserable indeed is a world in which we have knowledge without
understanding, criticism without appreciation, beauty without love,
truth without passion, righteousness without mercy, and courtesy
without a warm heart. - Lin Yutang
On a typical Friday night I am
Eating or drinking with friends, hopefully at a bar with no tv sets
or a restaurant open after midnight.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I've lived my entire life according to lessons gleaned from the
Fraggle Rock theme song and Uncle Albert from Mary Poppins.
I was an ugly duckling until college.
You should message me if
You're interested in live music - anything from indie to roots
reggae, concertos and jazz clubs to screamo and old school punk;
hanging out at quiet bars or over coffee; sneaking into movie
theaters; cooking breakfast; road trips; or conversation with
interesting and introspective people.
Or if you're awesome and you know it (hand-clapping optional).
