I am playful, adventurous, and outgoing.

My Self-Summary

I'm complex, like everybody else. People who take the time to get to know me find I am very loving, committed, and nurturing. I like taking care of people. I am extremely affectionate with those I care about and I express that physically, according to the nature of the relationship.

I'm intelligent, well-educated, full of leadership qualities. Yadda yadda. Not useful unless you're on a job interview. ;)

I'm balanced, sane, sociable. I like having a large circle of very fun acquaintances and a small circle of very good friends, and I know the difference between them and the value of both.

At heart, I'm both a pragmatist and a romantic, if you can accept that they can go together.

When I love, I love deeply and intensely. It's both a blessing and a curse.

I can be very intense and very passionate. I try to keep that to myself except with the right people, because many people find it overwhelming. It's why it's so important to me to delineate my inner and outer circles so well.

What I’m doing with my life

.....Pretending to be Suzy Homemaker in Austin's alternative underworld. *LOL* What the PTA doesn't know!!

..... Doing a lot of tai chi and qi gong.

.....Trying to find an SO who can be a wonderful friend and lover and doesn't mind my having made a prior commitment, and trusts that I'm willing and able to make another one to the right person while still honoring the first.

.....Trying to make the world a better place, at least in my little corner of it.

I’m really good at

I'm really good at making stuff, fixing stuff, creative problem-solving, planning, organizing, physical & technical things etc. I'm good at making things happen when I want to. I'm that person who makes things happen so that other people can come and do their thing and sit around and talk and have a good time. :) Oh yeah. And I can cook. Really truly. Really yummy.

I'm fairly well co-ordinated, and reasonably good at most physical activities, but alas, am not Miss Hardcore Fitness Buff.

The first things people usually notice about me

That there are 2 children crawling on me?? Truly, if I'm with my kids, that is probably what you'll see. We're all very tactile and very affectionate.

Most people think of me as friendly and outgoing, with a great big smile to say hello. I usually end up being well-liked in the various communities I'm part of. But when faced with a new and/or unfamiliar situation, I tend to be quiet around folks I don't know, spending a lot of time observing until I get a better feel for the people. Eventually I get to the point where I walk into a room and half the people get up to give me hugs. That's a nice place to be. I like hugs. :)

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I like music and films, but they're not "important" to me the way they seem to be to other people. I don't really need to be entertained. There might be 3 "must see" films a year for me, and often I end up buying the DVD because I didn't get to the theater in time.

WRT musical preferences, I like classical, some country, some pop, etc. but nothing harsh or discordant. Rhapsody in Blue. Beethoven's 6th. CSNY. Phil Collins. Pink Floyd. It has to sound like music to me. I can't be more precise than that. Sorry.

I like a whole lot of different kinds of books, too many to list, both fiction and nonfiction, but for sheer enjoyment, I really like Agatha Christy or other cozy mysteries, urban fantasy like Charles deLint, some of the classics, including Dickens. Tolkien, JK Rowling. It has to be well-written and have interesting characters. Hopefully something meaningful for me to think about. I play Sudoko or do crossword puzzles at night to relax and put me to sleep.

I'm a voracious reader of reference materials and know how to educate myself on things I'm interested in. I am constantly learning.

I prefer food unprocessed, with lots of veggies, using whole grains or none at all. I like a whole lot of different ethnic cuisines and love trying new and interesting restaurants. I've got a LOT of cookbooks, so if I'm eating at home, it could be almost anything, but my opinion is that homemade anything beats processed food any day.

The six things I could never do without

Love, sex, good food, travel/adventure, community, emotional connection.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Love, sex, good food, travel/adventure, community, emotional connection. LOL!!

OK, OK. What's the next task I need to do? what to make for dinner? whether to remodel the house? what's my next career going to be? where am I going on my next adventure? how to let go of things that are holding me back from the person I want to be?

On a typical Friday night I am

It varies. Sometimes going out, sometimes recovering from a hectic week.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I think I've said enough. ;)

You should message me if

There's something here you want to talk about. I don't bite. Well, not unless you ask nicely, and then we'll have to negotiate it a bit.
