I am thoughtful, fun-loving, and good-natured.
My Self-Summary
I'm a person who tries to be caring and thoughtful. My family is
incredibly important to me - my sister is my best friend, although
I don't see her nearly often enough, and I see my parents almost
daily. I like to think. Although I don't always enjoy being
challenged to expand my horizons (who really does?), I am always
grateful after the fact. I tend to be a bit shy on first meeting,
especially in a group setting, but very quickly become much more
outgoing. Books are important to me, but right now I'm having to
limit my consumption - I have to place an emphasis on my textbooks!
I very much enjoy cooking, although I don't do as much of it as I
would like.
Now in German
Mein Deutsch ist sehr schlecht. Ich habe Deutsch seit 10 Jahre
studiert. Ich spreche jetzt jeder zwei Woche mit meine Mutter und
eine Freundin. Es hilft ein bisschen, und ich moechte besser
sprechen, lesen und schreiben.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm currently working in a patient care position in a hospital.
It's a great opportunity to be able to help people when they're in
need of assistance, and I very much enjoy it. I'm also a full-time
student, studying to be a nurse.
I’m really good at
I'm really good at taking care of people, so I'm definitely in the
right field at work! I'm also really good at being a student - if I
could, I would just keep on studying, piling up degree after degree
behind my name. I come from a family that really places an emphasis
on silliness, so I'm pretty good at that sometimes too. My cooking
skills are a little rusty, but when I get a chance, I can put on a
pretty good show.
The first things people usually notice about me
I think the first thing people usually notice about me is my
winning personality :)
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I'm a big fan of mysteries, by authors such as
Dorothy Sayers,
Laurie King, and
Jane Haddam; I
also enjoy reading
Laurell K. Hamilton and
Jane Austen. I
enjoy reading
late
ancient and early medieval history, from the first 10 or 12
centuries or so of the Common Era, especially if it's church or
theology history.
As far as movies/tv go, I'm still a big fan of
The West Wing, despite the
fact that it's been off the air for a while! I try to watch
The
Rachel Maddow Show and
Countdown with
Keith Olbermann on a fairly regular basis, as well as being a
fan of
The
Food Network. I like
Buffy the Vampire
Slayer and
Nip/Tuck, although I think I'm stuck
somewhere in season 3 right now. I like movies that are about
interior landscapes, such as
Under the Tuscan Sun, as
well as some action movies - I tend more towards drama than comedy,
although if it's well-crafted and actually funny, that's a
different story.
When it comes to music, I like a nice mix of classic rock, blues,
SOME jazz, folk & old-timey gospel, and - definitely -
bluegrass. I'm pretty open to listening to just about anything, and
my family teases me about the number of songs I can sing along to,
but it's not usually very high on my priority list.
Now, food - that's a different matter altogether! I try to eat
fairly well - lots of salad and veggies, seasonal fruit, and I love
fish. Salmon is probably my favorite food. I like a nice chicken
dish on occasion, and a pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw makes me
a happy girl. Spicy food is good; I wish I had more opportunity to
eat Indian food. I also really enjoy Cajun food. I am not, however,
a great fan of fried food, except for onion rings.
The six things I could never do without
I could never do without my family, books, GOOD food, the
opportunity to learn, teh internets (how did we survive?), and a
regular dose of The West Wing.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I spend a lot of time thinking about my place in the world and in
the universe, and contemplating my future. This, of course, comes
in between thinking about my coursework for my degree, and thinking
about when I'll find enough time to sleep between working nights
and school during the day! But I wouldn't trade a second of it.
On a typical Friday night I am
hanging out with my family and then trying to stay up as late as I
possibly can so I can sleep late on Saturday, preparatory to going
to work.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I'm pretty much an open book. If you ask me, I will probably tell
you. Or I will be apologetic about why I won't. But I'll probably
tell you.
You should message me if
you think it would be a good idea.
