My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I like to think that I am more than a list of adjectives. I'm originally from Florida, went to college in Connecticut, worked for awhile, and then moved to New York to start graduate school. I've been living here for over 4 years now. I enjoy doing little things to make myself happy. Mostly, I like to drink iced tea and help people with their problems. On occasion, I sing and try to play the ukulele. If I have free time, I try to paint or read. I have figured out that life rarely goes as you have planned and I am okay with that (or trying to be). I'm all about new beginnings and exploring the world (inner and outer). So... yeah. On the whole, I strive to be authentic and kind. Also, I'm a therapist, so I like to talk about feelings and come up with theories.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I am growing up while maintaining my youthful sense of wonder. Besides that, I'm a therapist working with adolescents and their families. Top thing that people say when they meet me: "Are you analyzing me right now?" Probably not.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
making facial expressions that convey exactly how awkward a situation is (mostly without meaning to!)
having intense conversations in bars
making up songs about situations that I am in (awkward or not)
And so much more!
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Someone once told me that I "look like a sunflower" because I smile and laugh a lot.
Also, I apparently look like every female celebrity with pale skin, dark hair, and blue eyes.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: Let's go with authors.. Jane Austen, the Brontes, Murakami, Kundera, Yalom, Ibsen. I am always open to suggestions for great books.
Movies: Drop Dead Fred (I have not revised this since childhood).
MUSIC: I used to have a radio show at college, but now I (sadly) don't keep up as much on new and good music. Some bands/artists that I like include: Wilco, Bob Dylan, The Hold Steady, The Avett Brothers, Camera Obscura, Herman Dune, Robyn, Fiona Apple, Mason Jennings, Elvis Perkins etcetcetc
Shows: 30 rock, Parks and Rec, Community, Once Upon a Time, Felicity
Food: Hummus and pita (any day). Also, fruits and vegetables and sandwiches. Smoothies.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. My family (which includes friends...!)
2. Food (I like to make broad categories)
3. Long Walks (not on the beach though.. just around Brooklyn)
4. Advancements in technology
5. Showers
6. Empathy
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
or just how we made up everything in society and how weird it is when you run into someone you know because if you had just left a second later (or earlier) then you wouldn't have. Shit like that.
Also, I'm kind of into the Myers Briggs.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
up for an adventure, but somehow always end up at the same bar in the east village or celebrating shabbat
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I check my horoscope on the daily...
I can really get into 90's R & B
