My self-summary
UPDATE: The beard is on hiatus, but I like the axe pic.

Tall, dark-eyed runner looking for romance.

Nice, but not a pushover. Awesome wrapped in humble.

Personality-wise: occasionally sarcastic, but also passionate about a variety of causes, and fighting the good fight. Also occasionally a goofball.

Walking around town with a friend, discovering and enjoying new things makes for a fine time. I have great friends, and am loyal.

I like laughing to the point of tears. If we crack each other up, that's perfect.

I've run seven marathons. They hurt. Training for #8 now: Clearwater, FL, 1/17/2016.
What I’m doing with my life
Professionally: Writing about technology
Not-so-professionally: Training for a Boston Qualifying marathon time in 2016.
I’m really good at
Coming up with fun stuff to do. Making things happen when it counts.
The first things people usually notice about me
I am easy to follow through a crowd.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Fiction: TC Boyle, Janice Galloway, Mark Helprin, James Kelman, Jonathan Lethem, Nabokov, O'Connor, Vonnegut, Philip K. Dick, Willam Gibson, Raymond Carver, Banana Yoshimoto.

Nonfiction: Mary Roach (Gulp, Stiff, Bonk), Robert Glennon (Unquenchable: America's Water Crisis and What To Do About It), Jeff Wilson (The Manhattan Project of 2009: Energy Independence Now!). Samantha Bee.

Mud--not a love movie, but a great movie about love. Primer, The Good The Bad The Weird, Blade Runner, Amadeus, City of Lost Children, Brazil, All Coen Brothers, Gilliam, and Burton. Until The End of the World. District 9. In The Mood For Love/2046. Red/White/Blue. The Fall. The Fantastic Mr. Fox. Moon. Most Danny Boyle and Julie Taymor movies.

TV: Rick and Morty, Broad City, Better Call Saul, Bob's Burgers, The Daily Show, Archer, Sherlock, Louis, Game of Thrones.

Bad Religion, Battles, John Coltrane, Concrete Blonde, The Creatures, Devo, Drivin' N' Cryin', Eurythmics, Front 242, Peter Gabriel, The Jody Grind, Th' Legendary Shack Shakers, Living Colour, Men at Work, Gary Numan, Radiohead, Rush, Social Distortion, Sugar, Tool, VNV Nation. In fact, I'm probably rockin' out to VNV Nation *right now*. I love that there's a new generation of synthpop happening; it's a nice antidote to the blase rock god band of the week.

Newer: CHVRCHES, Galactic, Snarky Puppy

My favorite meal: sauteed peppers and onions, and fried plaintains, in Nicaragua.
The six things I could never do without
Running shoes, coffee, newspapers (fine, news sites), The Marmot (my windbreaker), and a sense of humor. Five's fine for me.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Comedy, politics, the move away from fossil fuels, how to avoid stretching.
On a typical Friday night I am
There are no typical Friday nights, but I do love live music, comedy, and movies. Sometimes I have to go to sleep early to be up for a Saturday run. Other times I enjoy hitting the occasional dive bar or finding some decent fun theater.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have a heated mat for my cat for the winter. I call it The Cat Immobilizer. She's pretty much glued to it until Spring.
You should message me if
You want to go romp and play.
