My self-summary

I'm at the tail end of a project that has made me a recluse. Ready to romp and play through the summer. Let's go!

I am awesome wrapped in humble. A badass with manners, a passionately serious goofball, and an egalitarian with high standards. I bet you're similar.

Walking around town with a friend, discovering and enjoying new things is my idea of a fine time. I have great friends, and am loyal.

I like laughing to the point of tears. If we crack each other up, that's perfect.

I've run six marathons, Hood to Coast once, and the Ragnar NW Passage Relay twice. Next up: the Foot Traffic Flat on July 4th.

Just for fun, here's my fantasy dinner guest list:

Garry Trudeau
Kurt Vonnegut
Jon Stewart
Kristen Wiig
Tina Fey
Roger Ebert
Julie Taymor
What I’m doing with my life
I'm the senior analyst at a research firm covering cleantech markets: renewable power sources, energy efficiency, electric vehicles and the like. I still have plenty of time to run with friends, see movies, plays, concerts, and as many Timbers games as possible.

I am considering starting a business on the side. Still kicking it around. I'm not a ladder climber, but I'm definitely not just one to wait and see what comes my way.

And, obviously, I'm looking for someone special.
I’m really good at
Listening, Coming up with fun stuff to do. Being affectionate. Giving space. Encouragement. Making things happen when it counts.
The first things people usually notice about me
I am easy to follow through a crowd.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Fiction: TC Boyle, Janice Galloway, Mark Helprin, James Kelman, Jonathan Lethem, Nabokov, O'Connor, Vonnegut, Philip K. Dick, Willam Gibson, Raymond Carver, Banana Yoshimoto.

Nonfiction: Mary Roach (Gulp, Stiff, Bonk), Robert Glennon (Unquenchable: America's Water Crisis and What To Do About It), Jeff Wilson (The Manhattan Project of 2009: Energy Independence Now!). Samantha Bee.

Primer, The Good The Bad The Weird. Blade Runner, Primer, Amadeus, City of Lost Children, Brazil, All Coen Brothers, Gilliam, and Burton. Until The End of the World. District 9. In The Mood For Love/2046. Red/White/Blue. The Fall. The Fantastic Mr. Fox. Moon. Most Danny Boyle and Julie Taymor movies.

TV: Doctor Who, 30 Rock, Bob's Burgers, The Daily Show, Breaking Bad, Justified, Archer, Sherlock, Louis, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead.

Bad Religion, Battles, John Coltrane, Concrete Blonde, The Creatures, Devo, Drivin' N' Cryin', Eurythmics, Front 242, Peter Gabriel, The Jody Grind, Th' Legendary Shack Shakers, Living Colour, Men at Work, Gary Numan, Radiohead, Rush, Social Distortion, Sugar, Tool, VNV Nation. In fact, I'm probably rockin' out to VNV Nation *right now*. I love that there's a new generation of synthpop happening; it's a nice antidote to the blase rock god band of the week.

Newer: CHVRCHES, Galactic, Snarky Puppy

My favorite meal: sauteed peppers and onions, and fried plaintains, in Nicaragua.
The six things I could never do without
Running shoes, coffee, newspapers (fine, news sites), The Marmot (my windbreaker), and a sense of humor. Five's fine for me.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Politics, the move away from fossil fuels, how to avoid stretching.
On a typical Friday night I am
There are no typical Friday nights, but I do love live music, comedy, and movies. Sometimes I have to go to sleep early to be up for a Saturday run. Other times I enjoy hitting the occasional dive bar or finding some decent fun theater.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I use Safeway's house version of Equal. The packets say ASPARTAME. I usually pronounce it UH-SPART-UH-MAY, so that I can rhythm it out like The Ramones in "Teenage Lobotomy."

That's the type of thing you'd be dealing with. Fair warning.
