My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Dating is hard. Online dating is harder. Getting a response is even harder. Maybe I'm not doing a good job of selling myself. Or maybe I was too specific in my original profile.

So here is version 2.0. Its supposed to be an essay but you're going to get bullet points. I'm a rebel like that.

*I was married for 10 years but now I'm not. My ex was unfaithful...several times with several people. I learned from that and will choose more wisely.

*I have owned my own business for 20 years and while sometimes it's tough I like the very flexible schedule it gives me. Want to meet for lunch in the middle of the day? I can probably do that.

*I think I'm a good dad. I have a great daughter that leads me to believe it. She wasnt born awesome. I'm how she got that way.

*I like geeky things. That's not all I am though. It's just one part. Ask me about any geeky things you want and I will be glad to talk about them.

*I'm not in the best shape but I'm not in the worst shape either. I'm trying to slowly fix that. The elliptical is a blessing and a curse.

*I'm not rich but I'm comfortable. Because I wasn't always as financially stable I'm very frugal. I like to make sure something has value before I invest time or money on it. I also think if you have something of value you try to fix it before you throw it away and start over. This includes relationships.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
It's very cliche...but I'm living it. I'm at the stage in my life where I'm doing what I want to be doing. I just want to do more. Maybe you can help me with that. Or maybe I can help you do things in your life. I think people aren't meant to be alone and that people working together can do amazing things. Or really dumb things. That is also a possibility.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I'm really good at being a dad. I'm really good at making people laugh too. I'm also good at making lasagna. Lasagna skills are more practical around mealtime luckily.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
That I look just like Robert Downey Jr. Just squint a little and tilt the phone 37 degrees to the right. Trust me. Or perhaps my eyes. I have gotten a fair amount of compliments on them from strangers.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I'm a Whedon nerd. I love Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly, Dollhouse and just about everything Joss Whedon has done. I also enjoy reading and some of my favorite authors currently are Patrick Rothfuss, SM Stirling, Kim Harrison and Elizabeth Moon among others. Specific book series i really like are the King Killer Chronicles, The Hollows, the Emberverse & The Deed of Paksennarion. I love a good story regardless of medium. As far as food goes I generally enjoy something with a little spice.

I don't watch very much TV but some of my favorites are Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, Justified, Sons of Anarchy, Defiance, Dexter, The Americans, and Game of Thrones. I'm also pretty fond of the History Channel & the Discovery Channel.

For movies I'm a sucker for any sci-fi/fantasy type of movie but if its good I will watch it regardless of genre. Some of my favorites include:
Groundhog Day
Big Trouble in Little China
The Goonies
Monty Python & the Holy Grail
The 5th Element
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. My daughter
2. My friends
3. Books

I'm just going to let those things count twice. There are things it would be hard to do without but as long as I have my friends and family and books I think I could manage.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Why don't people respond to messages? I get that maybe someone isn't your type but let's be honest...we are all on an online dating site. We all have some kind of issues. Why not exchange a few messages and maybe meet for a date? You never know. Speaking for me I can say that worst case scenario you get a free meal/beverage/movie/laser tag/etc and maybe a good story if I somehow make a giant fool of myself. Beat case scenario, we hit it off.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I don't have a typical Friday night. Usually I'm at work. I work in a business that opens late and closes late and is busiest on the weekends. All you service industry and retail job ladies...I'm your man. I can go on dates when you are actually off. :)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm saving this for in person or via direct messages. Read through my okcupid questions and ask me some things. I will be honest. i don't have time for dishonesty.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
*You should message me if you can wear 5 inch heels and still be shorter than me.
*You have kids or understand the struggle of dating a single parent.
*You love at least one thing strongly enough that if I get you started talking you have trouble stopping.
*Honestly any reason you want to message me is fine. I will accept jokes, bad to mediocre puns, ghost stories or even interesting wikipedia articles. Please save all nude picture messages for your third message.
