My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I've been a bit of a geek all my life, and love it. I'm a bit of a stereotypical engineer (run if you see me with power tools!). I love science and technical articles, and playing with new gadgets. I love to read, and I like to poke around in the corners of the science fiction genre for the gems.

Weekends are for outings such as the Renn Fair, science-fiction convention, outdoor music festivals, or a Lego convention. I regularly go to a board game night with friends, where I have discovered via Cards Against Humanity that I am not nearly as horrible as I thought I was.

Just because I'm a geek doesn't mean I'm not active. I'm pretty proud of losing over 100 lbs in the last couple years, and I'm 25 lbs away from my target weight. I do enjoy hiking, walking, and biking, and I'm even starting to do some running with my goal to run a 5k.

I also happen to be a full-time parent to a wonderful, well-behaved 5-year old boy, and have been for almost his whole life. When it comes to doing the truly sexy things in life (Cleaning, Cooking, Caring for a kid), I'm a pro, and do it all myself.

Independence is sexy to me; self-rescuing princesses only please.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Working as an engineer for the military and doing the single dad thing. Trying to find time to go hiking and camping, and sorely missing the biking and walking trails.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Writing and editing. I seem to be a bit of an oddity where I work, in that I am the only one who knows how to write well amidst a group of very technically minded co-workers. One of my pet peeves is "l33t" speak, as well as a total disregard to the grammatical conventions of our society. Yes, I am a writing snob.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My beard, followed by my eyes which have no constant color.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Right now I'm exploring the works of some rather obscure writers, particularly those who reside in the UK. It is hard to find their works in the US, so I frequently find myself ordering them online via Amazon.

I'm a Netflix addict, and right now my tastes have wandered across the pond to the UK. Lately, I cannot seem to get enough of BBC shows (e.g. Dr. Who, Torchwood, Being Human, Orphan Black).
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My son

Afternoon walks
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Ideas for short stories and other creative projects.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
- music festivals
- going out with friends
- swimming
- curling up with Netflix and popcorn
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I am a proud AFOL!

You're willing to take it slow and cautious, and are looking for someone to hang out with and have a good time. While I'm looking for a relationship, I'm not rushing in to anything. Friends first is a good start..

If you do take the time to send me a message, thanks! But please, introduce yourself and maybe share a few details. Something besides "'sup", "hi", and "hey". This lets me know I'm talking to a real live interesting person, and not a robot.
