My self-summary
I've been a bit of a nerd all my life, and love it. I'm a bit of a stereotypical engineer (run if you see me with power tools!). I love science and technical articles, and playing with new gadgets. I love to read, and I like to poke around in the corners of the science fiction genre for the gems.

I'm also into amateur photography. My subject of choice are modern ruins. I'm a bit of an Urban Explorer buff; though nowadays I prefer to visit the more legal sites. E.g., no trespassing in the middle of the night in some dilapadated, abandoned sanatorium. You would be surprised, there are actually a couple of them nearby. That said, I prefer places like Woolen Mills down by the Rivanna River / Rivanna Trail. There is also the wreckage of a crashed B-51 in the Blue Ridge Mountains that I want to go to some time.
What I’m doing with my life
I've recently gotten a lot of things settled in my life, and I am finding myself with time to pursue new opportunities. I am also trying new things; such as hiking/camping, as well as learning how to cook more, especially Mexician dishes.
I’m really good at
Writing and editing. I seem to be a bit of an oddity where I work, in that I am the only one who knows how to write well amidst a group of very technically minded co-workers. One of my pet peeves is "l33t" speak, as well as a total disregard to the grammatical conventions of our society. Yes, I am a writing snob.
The first things people usually notice about me
My beard, followed by my eyes which have no constant color.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Right now I'm exploring the works of some rather obscure writers, particularly those who reside in the UK. It is hard to find their works in the US, so I frequently find myself ordering them online via Amazon.

I'm a Netflix addict, and right now my tastes have wandered across the pond to the UK. Lately, I cannot seem to get enough of BBC shows (e.g. Dr. Who, Torchwood, Being Human) . It appears that I'm slowly going into a western phase (e.g. Deadwood), and I am quite enjoying it.

My current book is "The World Inside". I'm debating as to what I should read next. Probably some classic modern science fiction, like "The Handmaiden's Tale" or "Brave New World". I've been trying to read some Philip K. Dick, but so far his writing hasn't particularly grabbed me.
