My self-summary
I'm an college graduate with an easygoing bent and a devastating case of scatterbrain. I daydream almost constantly, remain impervious to (bad) Drama despite a latent romantic streak, and have a hard time respecting people with unapologetically rotten grammar. Cynical but cheerful. Reserved, but prone to fits of pique. Adorable on cue. Kinky on demand. Fairly geeky, but then who isn't these days...

I deeply dig the smell of old books. I have soft spots for Art Deco/Nouveau, top-notch voice acting and Commonwealth accents (British Commonwealth, that is, not Massachusetts - Boston accents tend to jam my brain). I'm a scattershot mix of male/female stereotypes, and the bending, breaking, and casual disregarding of gender norms draws me as a moth to flame. (down with the gender binary, etc. etc.)

I'm here to meet strangers of all stripes to chat and hang out with. If that leads anywhere more serious, so much the better.

NEWS BULLETIN: I am in a polyamorous relationship (if this baffles, I'm happy to explain). My schedule's pretty full, perhaps prohibitively so, but life is good.

What I’m doing with my life
I'm in Northampton to work and be happy. I spend my off-hours lollygagging about in downtown Noho, consuming/being-consumed-by the internet, biking whenever possible, driving friends around and catching the odd what-have-you at Iron Horse/Pearl Street.

Trying to pick up Russian / German / ASL (and hold onto my Spanish and French).

Saving up for more schooling - either for education, which could be fun but terribly frustrating, or for medicine, which would just be ridiculously difficult instead. More on this situation as it develops.

I’m really good at
Languages - I speak decent Spanish and halfway-decent French, and think about English way, way more than can be good for me. Hearing foreign speech makes my day.

I also have deft hands, and a fascination with shapes, and physics, and graceful movement. How things work, how they'll bend or tumble or fit together. It's a preoccupation that sometimes leads to labor-intensive art-project-things, most of which get given away.

I like to think I'm pretty sure on my feet, and I enjoy running pell-mell down mountain trails, spotting and negotiating obstacles on instinct at the very last second. Which, come to think of it, is an eerily accurate metaphor for how I prosecute the rest of my life...

The first things people usually notice about me
Probably my hair, which is long and naturally curly, to the point where it sometimes forms up into ringlets of its own whimsical volition.

I've also been told I possess cute dimples. Noting them as such will invariably cause me to flaunt them out of embarrassment, or flattery, or both.

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I was raised on a steady diet of Roald Dahl, which I like to think made me a more twisted, bad-ass ten-year-old than the kids whose books had happier endings and fewer grotesqueries. Recent reads include Murakami, Nabokov, Neal Stephenson (comfort author), Wodehouse, Le Petit Prince, Douglas Adams, David Foster Wallace, E.M. Forster, Harlan Ellison and Neil Gaiman.

Movies: Eternal Sunshine, Groundhog Day, Blast from the Past, anything Pixar/Brad Bird, Tarantino, Brazil, The 5th Element, Wes Anderson (*almost* too quirky for my blood), Moon, Inception, Dr. Strangelove, Don Hertzfeldt, High Fidelity, The Truman Show, Tim Burton, films noirs with snappy banter, The History Boys, District 9.

TV: Though I'm no longer keeping up with television, I've enjoyed The Venture Brothers, anything by Brian Fuller / Joss Whedon, and what episodes I've caught of House (Hugh Laurie rocks! He's written a novel, which also rocks! [read it!]).

Music: Arcade Fire, Kaizers Orchestra, Pink Martini, Jarvis Cocker, Moxy Früvous, Nine Inch Nails, The Mountain Goats, Scissor Sisters, The Decemberists. Kevin Manthei and Rufus Wainwright. The Dresden Dolls and Amanda Palmer. Massive Attack and Jacques Brel. Huge sucker for spiraling crescendos and pop music with orchestral instruments.

Food: Coffee-flavored anything, more than coffee itself; ditto for limes. Sushi, paella, avocados, Nutella, lychees, pierogies, Herrell's. Currently on a serious Costa Rican comfort-food tear...

I spend a lot of time thinking about
How much you can read out of someone's eyes. Bizarre tangents from whatever's being talked about. Gender ambiguity. Quirks of language. How to put off work (as a means of putting off work). Movies. Limerence. Untranslatable words. Philosophical clap-trap (I seem to be the opposite of a solipsist, whatever that is). How to appear less/more eccentric in public.

On a typical Friday night I am
Probably out with friends - or else in with friends, watching movies whilst doing their hair.
