My self-summary
Part bon vivant, part mad scientist, I've been masquerading my way through academia. I love good food, music, dance, and conversation. I think intelligence is sexy.
What I’m doing with my life
My mom's a social scientist, my dad's a musician. I combined the two, and became I scientist/ musician/ dancer. My research is about how sound waves interact with electricity and magnetism (which is pretty much as awesome as it sounds).
I’m really good at
Singing. In the car, along with the radio, at the top of my lungs. Not to drop names or anything, but I've had some truly AMAZING duets with Aretha Franklin.

Seeming simultaneously serious and silly. Also, alliteration.

Asking questions about what makes things tick. Sometimes about nature, sometimes about people (somewhat shockingly, scientists can have social skills!).

Dancing. Mostly swing and blues, but I'm working on tango again.
The first things people usually notice about me
It's a toss-up between the dashing good looks, or the mischievous grin (I've got a wicked sense of humor, but under no circumstances am I ever sarcastic. Really. I swear.).

They also notice that I am extremely high-energy. I don't think that anyone would ever characterize me as "laid-back". More like, "zealous for life".
The six things I could never do without
1) Food- I love to cook, and I especially love to cook for other people. The word "companion" originally meant "someone with whom we share bread."

10) My passport- I've been lucky enough to travel all over the globe, making friends along the way. I especially love staying with the locals- I learn so much about them and their culture (and indirectly, about mine).

11) Google, Wikipedia, and the Internet at large- because by gawd, sometimes you really need to know the radius of the Earth as measured in Smoots (approximately 3.7 million).

100) Books- I read constantly. One of the most severe cases of biblio-withdrawal I ever suffered was while traveling in Europe. A week after finishing the books I had brought with me, I found myself lunging at anything written in English with all the desperation of a junkie looking for a fix.

101) Coffee- but not just any old coffee. I mean the good stuff. If I'm desperate, I can drink bad coffee... but I have to pinch my nose and close my eyes.

110) Binary notation- and of course, people who understand it.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Self-improvement. I'm actively striving to become a better person, each and every day.

Work-life balance (because that's what makes the world go 'round). Also, what LITERALLY makes the world go 'round?
On a typical Friday night I am
Dancing to live music, or being live music for people to dance to (mostly jazz and blues, but I like all kinds of things).

Heading to the lab, because science!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
My grandfather bequeathed me a collection of cufflinks and tiepins. I was going to get rid of them, since I didn't have any shirts that used cufflinks, and rarely wore ties. Then I realized that the far better solution was to start dressing snazzy enough that that ties and cufflinks made sense.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 25–45
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
If you think the guys making the first move is SOOOOO twentieth-century.

I don't need a Manic Pixie Dream Girl, but I'm definitely into women who are smart, happy, and emotionally stable (GGG is a big plus). I'm not the least bit intimidated by your intelligence and success; quite the opposite.

If you're looking for a guy who is intensely intellectual, yet emotionally available, and who can challenge you to be the best possible version of yourself (and you can do the same for me): I'm your man.
