My self-summary
Hi I'm Jake.

I'm all of the following things:
Teacher, music enthusiast, sarcastic bastard, goofball, student, dreamer, traveler, skater, writer, Philly sports fan, amateur Philadelphia tour guide, and overall good dude.

I can play a few instruments but I'm not an expert at any.

I am pretty good at bass.
I can fake my way on playing guitar.
I am learning harmonica, churango, and tin whistle.

I like writing, but I am awful at spelling.
Yet I'm really good at proofreading.

I like outdoor activities especially during the warm weather months, camping, hiking, swimming, boating walking in parks, or just sitting in the sun.

I am over 30 years old and the following things still bring a smile to my face:
-skateboarding
-riding a bike
-trampolines
-traveling by train
-skeeball
-Halloween

I'm not sure what I'm doing here on an online dating website, guess just attempting to find a way to meet someone new and have some fun.
I live just outside Philly in Bensalem, and while it would be nice to start a relationship, I'd be just as happy to meet some new friends.

I am not sure I believe in the whole "white picket fence" "American Dream" deal. I'm living life as much as I can, and I can't tell you if I will ever "settle down."
I am not looking for a Cinderella, I am sure as hell no prince.
But I'm living my life's for all I can make of it and it might be nice to have a "partner in crime" to share the times with.

I am not a fan of cold weather or the winter.
However, I think I'd like to try snowboarding .
Do you know how to snowboard?
Want to teach me?

I like to travel but I haven't done it enough.

I like whiskey, rum, and beer.
But I also like iced tea, fruit punch and coca-cola.

My favorite cities on the planet are:
Philadelphia, PA
Otavalo, Ecuador
and Negril, Jamaica.

I haven't spent as much time in Negril, or Otavalo as I have in Philly, but they are the only other places that feel like home.

I like people who have hobbies. I don't have to be interested in that hobby, but I take interest in seeing what others are interested in.

I've got a ton of hobbies, some more geeky than others.

Speaking of geeky...
I tend to like geeky things that remind me of growing up.
Skateboards, comic books, horror movies, old retro songs, old games, zombies.

People tell me I'm funny.
I don't try to be, but if somebody thinks I am I'll take the compliment.

I'm incredibly sarcastic.
If you like sarcasm, you'll probably be someone I can share a lot of laughs with.
If you don't like sarcasm, you might not be my biggest fan.
Let's leave it at that.

I like chimpanzees, if I could have one as a pet I would.

I call everyone dude, I'll probably call you dude at some point. Hope you don't mind. If so, sorry dude.
What I’m doing with my life
I am now a Special Education/ESL/English Language Arts/ Mathematics teacher and assistant administrator at an alternative high school in Philly.
I teach the kids that have gotten kicked out of other schools, been in and out of jails and rehabs, and help them graduate and get their lives on track.
It's wild, and each day is unpredictable, but I love what I do.

I'm also currently applying to grad school programs , once again I am not positive where I will end up, but I know it will be in the Philadelphia area, because this is home, and I will never leave.
I’m really good at
Translating compositions written in poor English to something that makes sense. That's not really a talent though, I'm a teacher its sort of my job.

People tell me I'm a good listener, and that I can somehow stay calm in almost any situation..

Okay something I'm really good at.... Tetris, yes that old puzzle game for the original Nintendo. That was my favorite. I rule at that.
The first things people usually notice about me
I can talk about anything, but I won't generally start the conversation.

I'm really calm most of the time..
I probably look like I'm thinking really hard, but the chances are I'm just singing whatever song is stuck in my head.

Physically I guess the first thing people notice is when I let it grow out I have a really curly blonde fro that forms on top of my head, that alway appears out of control. If you see it you will probably think I either just woke up or appear to be insane.

I'm telling you though I'm awake and quite sane, I just have a crazy head of hair.

I once had a stranger on a Septa bus approach me and tell me I have very unique eyes.
That was kind of fun, but it also creeped me out a little.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
-The future.
- What I want to do next.
- my career.
- Did people take pictures of themselves in bathroom mirrors before social networking sites existed?
-My students.
- What the hell makes people want to listen to Nickelback?
- Why is Philly's subway system so lame compared to other cities?
- Where the hell did I put my cell phone?
- How many licks does it take to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop?
On a typical Friday night I am
Sometimes out at a bar on Girard Ave with some friends, eating a burger, drinking a beer, watching a band, and hanging out.

Sometimes rocking out at a show at a place like The TLA, KungFuNecktie, The Trocadero, or Union Transfer.

Sometimes sitting on a couch at a friends house watching a Flyers Phillies 76ers, Temple Owls, or other sports game.

And sometimes at home relaxing, cooking dinner, and watching a good movie..

Anything goes really, it depends what mood I'm in.

Worst case scenario, I'm sitting at the bar of a Big Heads out in the burbs, but hey at least it gets me out of the house.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I once went to a palm reader and was told I have no lifeline.
When I told this to my Dad he told me it's because I stopped breathing as an infant and wasn't supposed to live.
