My self-summary
I think life is all about learning, and no matter what happens to you, it's a learning experience, if you're brave enough and humble enough to let it be. I think we all have an obligation to leave the world a little bit better for having been in it, or at least try. I think life is a whirl of beautiful chaos, and some days you just have to step back and admire it. I think about life... a lot.
What I’m doing with my life
After spending far too many years as a physics major I've finally found my niche in the flowing green lines of code. I've got about another year until I get my CS degree (minors in math and physics, natch). And I can't wait to get out into the "real world"

I'm actually working a co-op job this semester at a (small) local database software shop, and I absolutely love it. Combined with the decent chance I'll have a job there when I get out, I feel fairly secure in my future, so now all I have to do is find someone to share it with [that's where you might come in ;)]
I’m really good at
Learning, no seriously, it's kind of my thing, learning, rather addicting innet? That and being there for people who need it, gives me a sense of purpose and all, I'd like to think I've gotten decent at it.
The first things people usually notice about me
My dry wit? My beard? The fact that in the right light I look a little like an over-sized Leprechaun or an undersized Lincoln?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: C.S. Lewis, J.R.R Tolkein, Jim Butcher (Dresden Files, Codex Alera), Terry Practchett and the Discworld novels, Sun-Tzu's Art of War, and pretty much any sci-fi that likes to take novel ideas and run with them.

Movies: Pan's Labyrinth, Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog, Serenity, Princess Bride, Death at a Funeral (the British version), Ink, Monty Python, and a great deal more

T.V.: (A bit predictable at this point) Dr. Who, Buffy, Angel , Firefly (love me some Joss Whedon), Frasier, Community, BSG, Big Bang Theory, Mythbusters.
Fun Fact: I've once gone 4 years without a TV, and I'd happily do it again.

Music: An ecletic bunch that includes European Folk-Metal (yes it is a thing, and yes it is awesome, look it up sometime), Irish Punk-Rock, Folk Music, Nickel Creek (Chris Thile, Sara Watkins etc.), Classical when I'm in the mood, and oddly enough house/electronica when I'm coding, keeps me in the zone I suppose.

Food: So long as it's dead (or plant-based) and isn't bleeding profusely I'd certainly consider trying it. Within reason mind.
The six things I could never do without
1. Books, lots and lots of books
2. A challenge
3. Family and friends
4. Interesting, thought-provoking discussions, philosophical musings (what is a deaf person's conception of sound? Do they refer to the "little voice in the back of their head" like the rest of us?)
5. Defying the norms a computerized system seeks to enforce on me
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Life, the Universe, and Everything!.... But mostly life, mine in particular, what I want to do with it, what I could reasonably do with it, etc.

Also, traveling, my dream would be to save up a nice little nest egg for a few years then go live and work in Europe, probably Scotland. I'd get an inexpensive quaint little flat and spend the rest of my money traveling all over the place. Nice thing about software people, everybody needs us, and if we have a connection to the internet, we have a job.
On a typical Friday night I am
I'm usually working, or piddling about the house working on this or that. I'm sometimes out with friends, mostly playing awesome board games/just hanging out.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
After 4ish years living in town with roommates, I've recently moved back in on my parents farm. Granted, it's an awful pain in the ego, but the rent is cheap and it means I'll get out of school with a LOT less debt (aka more savings for getting my own place in Scotland). I dislike debt, I wish more people did as well.

You should message me if
You like C.S. Lewis as well? If you're another slightly crazy/geeky girl who has a penchant for slightly, er, very geeky guys? If you just think we'd get along? If you can hold up your end of a conversation?
