The short version: I'm a Cuban-Irish-Jew who has traveled in a circle from Brooklyn --> Jersey --> Boston --> Durham --> Brooklyn. I welcome myself back to my old neighborhood on a regular basis. I also give myself high-fives.

The long version: will cost you $20. It's worth every penny.

I love to cook, merge words (like this: merds), meet people, hang out, explore our fair city, talk about stuff, learn about stuff (specifically stuff about public health), go on hikes(!), and be sarcastic.

One year, my family celebrated Thanksgiving in Nantucket. It was after dark when we finally arrived at the beach house we'd rented. I remember standing on the porch, listening to the waves crash on the sand, not knowing where the water was. It was cold. I like being near the water in winter.

I just moved here from Durham, NC to start a Master's program at Columbia. So I do that.

When the library sets me free, I can be found working at the Park Slope Food Co-op, grabbing drinks with friends, going to concerts, catching free events, hosting a party, or playing the "find the best pizza in new york" game. Besides Taboo, it's my favorite game.

Probably my laugh, since I laugh a lot and in all sorts of situations: happy ones, awkward ones, and when I don't really know what else to do. If we hang out, you'll think you're the funniest person ever.

I'll get lost in anything by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. My love for The Poisonwood Bible has made me hesitant to read anything else by Kingsolver, for fear I won't like it as much. I don't think that's logical, but there you have it. also, Zadie Smith. Dostoyevsky.
I can't even start with movies here, because there are so many good ones (and so many bad ones) that I enjoy for all sorts of different reasons. So, on to music.
The National. The Decemberists. Death Cab. Otis (yesterday, today, and forever). Johnny Cash. Pearl Jam. The Black Keys. Neko Case. Mayer Hawthorne. Bebo Valdes and El Cigala. Shakira (yes, you read that right). Ok let's end on a high note -- Coltrane. ha! i just punned.

whether I can stop myself from doing the same thing with the new Florence and the Machine album that I did with the first one -- listen to it incessantly on repeat everywhere I can until I inevitably wear it out. Conclusion: I can't stop myself. There's no use in trying.

Why Friday night? Can't it be a typical Saturday night? I'm much more fun on Saturday night. Unless it's a road trip. I love road trips, and I am pretty fun on them.
