I am engaging, compassionate, and curious.
My Self-Summary
I'm currently enjoying my life and looking for someone to share it
with. I live at varying paces and am always adjusting to best go
with the flow. I like to try new things, go interesting places and
engage in meaningful interactions. I value my friends, my family,
and am empathetic towards just about everyone. I have been able to
cultivate an interest in just about anything, from
etymology to
sociology, celebrities to
video games,
sports to scientific
research. I wouldn't say I'm always
looking for new things, but I certainly welcome them and try to
make the most of them.
Right now I'm trying my damnedest to get my little progress bar to
100%. I think I'm around 620 words -- I need 1000. This is going to
take a while...
Oh, and this relates to my personality because I'm noticing that
I've been getting more and more detail-obsessive lately. So
"completing" OkC would be a nice achievement.
What I’m doing with my life
I have just finished my first year of grad school at the
UofM. I study in the Chemical
Engineering and Materials Science department there while I'm
working towards my
PhD. When I'm not working or doing homework,
I spend time either relaxing at home,
barbecuing, at a bar with friends or
occasionally reading a book (not as much reading as I would like to
do, really). I stay pretty busy for myself and I've found that I
like being occupied.
I’m really good at
Listening and being supportive, making people feel comfortable,
making first impressions (usually), being observant, making
grilled cheese
sandwiches.
I think I'm good at meeting people, even though I usually feel real
shy. I tend to -- okay, I just am reediting this probably three
months later, and I have no idea why this sentence was left
unfinished or what the end of it is.
The first things people usually notice about me
I have a decent head of
curly hair. Other than that, I'm tall and
usually smiling. I also have a strong tendency to maintain eye
contact, but I'm not sure if that's noticed or not.
Note: I'm about to shave my head. I hope it grows back.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Currently reading
"The
Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay" by Michael Chabon. My
favorite series would have to be "
A Song of Ice and Fire"
by
George R.R. Martin.
Fantastic characters, can't wait for the next book! I'm currently
revisiting "
The
Office", "
Doctor Who" and occasionally
"
Arrested Development",
and just finished the seasons of "
LOST", "
Heroes" and "
24". Just watched "
Star Trek", loved it, and "
28 Days Later" will
always be one of my favorite movies. I get all my music from
The Current,
but I guess
The Hold Steady have had my
attention most recently. I just saw them at the Basilica Block
Party, where I had my face rocked off. For food: I love eating.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I tend to notice things and then obsess over them, like "who
removes roadkill from the middle of the road?" I also tend to
notice security cameras and look for blind spots, just in case I
need a clean getaway. Other than that my mind is usually in A)
research mode, B) conversation mode, or C) daydream mode.
School is back in gear! That means I'm now primarily in A
(supposedly) and C, with less B than I think should be present in
one's life.
On a typical Friday night I am
Either out at a bar or staying in with some friends. But Fridays
are meant to be spent with people. So sometimes I'm biking to a
BBQ, sometimes I'm setting up a rousing board game, or perhaps I'm
trying to get to Surdyk's before 9pm. All depends on the who, the
what and the where.
You should message me if
You managed to slog though my whole profile and still think I sound
interesting. I don't represent well on paper -- give messaging a
try! It can make a difference.
My mood towards this website changes pretty regularly, so don't
feel bad if I don't get back to you immediately. I'll be back
eventually.
