I am honest, funny, and quite laid back.
My Self-Summary
I recently developed an interest in dating again after being
celibate for about six years. Hmm, that's probably not my best
selling point. Ah well. I don't expect much, which is pretty good,
because I don't get much, either.
I'm a
gamer with
good taste in
beer
(imported!), politics (
liberal!), and friends (few but good!),
but lack in strange areas... like my apartment has no art on the
walls, which I'm told is weird. I don't have a car, for a lot of
reasons, economic, personal, and environmental. I've never done
things the normal way (whatever the "normal way" really is), but I
get by as best I can. Nice to meet you.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm working in Facilities Management for a large financial
institution. It's not really what I want to do with my life, but A)
the economy sucks and I'll take a decent-paying job where I can get
it, and B) jobs in writing are few and far between.
I'm writing a novel, but it's slow, difficult work.
I am a gamer, I play
Call of Cthulhu. I have also
participated in
LARP
in the last year. Video games, too: the
Persona and
Fallout series recently, but
RPGs in general as well. I play
board games
with friends at least once a month.
I’m really good at
Writing,
role playing, and,
well, doing the right thing by people. I'm probably too good for my
own good at being good. I am getting to be a pretty decent
cyclist, riding my
bike to and from work every day (that's
Uptown to downtown
Minneapolis, and further when
necessary on weekends.
The first things people usually notice about me
My long brown hair and uncanny resemblence to the
Buddy Christ from
Dogma. I'm a big guy, but not
unhealthy or unathletic.

The six things I could never do without
1. My
Trek bicycle. As mentioned
above, I don't own a car.
2. My
XBox360...
it's my DVD player as well as my gaming system.
3.
Scotland. No,
I don't have it with me, but knowing
Edinburgh is out there makes me
happy.
4. My strategically placed
Uptown apartment.
5. Skim Milk.
6. My gaming collection, which I have been collecting since age 8
or so.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Healthcare
reform... the big money interests don't want anything to
change, and will make whatever rumors, bargains, and lies they need
to to ensure that they continue to collect obscene profits. Senator
Baucus is clearly in the pocket of the insurance industry, and he
isn't alone. The progressive Democrats need to start flexing their
muscles and overrule their corporate bretheren.
On a typical Friday night I am
Usually just going out to a movie with a friend or renting a flick
to watch at home. I go out on Saturday more often.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
Despite living in Minnesota for the last 15 years, I am a [Green
Bay Packers] fan.
You should message me if
you're into geeky guys who will never lie to you. I expect the same
honesty in return: Don't lie to me, even to spare my feelings. If
you're not into me, just say so... stringing me along will hurt me
more in the long run.
I guess I should put in a little about my preferences. While all
kinds of women can be beautiful, I especially like pettite women
who are geeks and/or intellectuals. I suppose the adjectives that
describe my particular weaknesses with regard to women's
appearences are: "willowy," "exotic," and "etherial."
If you message me in 133t-speak, don't expect a response. This
isn't Twitter.
Dating-wise, I'm so rusty that I really should get a tetanus shot,
but I'm trying: please don't be afraid to message, wink, or IM
me... I'm completely non-judgemental and don't expect anything from
you except to have an interesting conversation. More than that will
come with time, if at all.
I will admit here that I do tend to become friends with women
easily because I'm easy to talk to and generally agreeable. I used
to lament this fact, but I'm pretty much over it now, and just
enjoy making friends and being there for someone.
If it doesn't feel natural, I'm not sure I want to pursue it. Life
is too short to be trying to make people feel a certain way about
you if they aren't already inclined to do so.
