My self-summary
You know what is really fun? If you said "sitting at the computer for 5 minutes trying to come up with something to write in an ABOUT ME box" then we have different ideas of fun, because that's what I just finished doing and it wasn't a barrel of laughs. Still, here we are, a few sentences in, and I'm still not quite sure, so let's just start tossing some stuff out there. I have a job, a car, and I have a very small collection of salt and pepper shakers. You may wonder why I would mention salt and pepper shakers. To that I say, would a complete loser have a very small collection of salt and pepper shakers? I believe he would not. Very small collections of salt and pepper shakers tend to be owned by nice guys rather than lame guys who build towers of beer cans next to their black-light pot leaf poster.

But I digress.

I try my best to be funny, and fun, and as polite as possible. I also work hard to drive in a courteous manner, which is a trait that does not get enough attention, I think. I tend to be a fan of quieter activities, like watching a movie or playing cards/board games/etc, maybe walks or lunch in a park, things of that sort. I am not a huge fan of hiking or rock climbing or kayaking or camping. I am also a man who isn't into sports! That may shock those who believe loving sports is a genetic male imperative, but I assure you it's true. I can watch an entire Tigers game while showing no emotion whatsoever. Not that I think badly of sports, or people who love sports. Just not my thing. What is my thing? Well, comic books, dramatic and exciting films, laughing at absurd things found on the internet, drawing and photoshopping, swimming when possible, writing, and being able to have a fantastic time just sitting and talking and hanging out, without an activity to prop it up.

Going into all the smaller details of me would take too much reading, so if there is anything you are left wondering after reading this, don't hesitate to ask. I'm informative and easy-going like that.
What I’m doing with my life
I left my job of 4+ years for a new line of work not long ago and it's improving my disposition. I'm generally in a brighter mood, the new job keeps me more physically active, and it is first shift rather than night shift so my schedule is more open as well. I am now trying to fill my free time with more creative endeavors like writing, sketching, and photoshop work. I would like to supplement or replace my income with profit from these creative outlets, and have wanted that for many years. The only thing preventing that is me, and I'm working on that.
I’m really good at
Showing someone that I care about them. I'm not a guy who hides or ignores his emotions. Most of the time if I feel something, you know it. Even if I'm by myself I wear my emotions on the surface. Strong emotional scenes in tv shows and movies can bring tears to my eyes, and I'm not afraid to admit it.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'll be honest, I have no idea. Other people notice those things, not me. How about; you tell me the first thing you notice about me. Then I'll know! Seriously, I wish I could tell you, but I got nothing.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Food: Pizza is always good, as is a well prepared medium-rare steak. But let's not forget sushi, thai food, lebanese food, and...hey, let's just hear it for food!

Music: Too varied to answer properly. Just ask me what I'm listening to on a particular day.

Movies: In no particular order- Boogie Nights, The Producers (original version,) Fail-Safe (1964 version,) Titus (a crazy vision of Shakespeare's Titus Andronicus with Anthony Hopkins,) and let's not forget the Nolan Batman Trilogy, and the Marvel Avengers series of films. Those are just to name a few.

Books: Top Pick- "American Gods" by Neil Gaiman is my absolute favorite book. Runners Up- "Ender's Game" by Orson Scott Card, "Neverwhere" by Neil Gaiman, "Gilgamesh" by Stephen Mitchell. There are many others besides, so ask me for more.

NEW CATEGORY - Podcasts: I am a big fan of podcasts, and even host one of my own. I subscribe to a few dozen, ranging from movie reviews (Slashfilm,) social commentary (Penn's Sunday School with Penn Jillete,) humor (Laser Time,) science fiction (Starbase 66,) news (various NPR shows), and relationship advice (Savage Lovecast with Dan Savage.)
The six things I could never do without
Caffeine - peace and quiet time - good food - my computer - my phone - Hugs.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How to improve myself, in many ways. This profile section is not the proper place for that discussion, though.
On a typical Friday night I am
Still trying to figure that out. I worked night shift on Fridays for years and just recently got a new job with a first shift schedule, so I haven't gotten any sort of routine down. In the absence of other plans, my default is relaxing at home, putting my feet up and watching some television with dinner. I'm open to going out for some nice, quiet socializing on Fridays, but I am still looking for someone special to do that with. That's, y'know, kinda why I'm here.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I will admit it to an individual, not to everyone who passes this profile. Sorry, but that's how it has to be.
