While I enjoy my career it is not the only part of life that defines me. Being with family, meeting regulalry with friends, listening to music, hiking, exercising, planning day/weekend and longer trips and reading are activities that keep me alive and connected to the world outside myself. It is important to be available to the people I care about. My friends would describe me as easy-going, thoughtful, available, intelligent, outgoing, funny and confident......Ah well, actually, they would probably use other descriptors because they try to be funny and usually are not....

Recently, I began a business within an existing one with a colleague we are hoping to expand....About once a month I visit my family in San Luis Obispo, mother, sister, brother-in-law and their three children, my niece and two nephews...I will probably be visiting San Francisco, Chicago and New York later this year and will likely do a big trip in 2014 or later this year....maybe with you...

Direct but approachable...

My favorite recent book is "Team of Rivals," which is partially a background for the movie “Lincoln” but far more interesting and rewarding. The recently published biography of David Foster Wallace was sad, but compelling...Man, that dude tried almost everything to find hope and meaning...and in the end, failed..... I love all kinds of food, Italian, Thai, Vietnamese, Indian, French, Japanese and most types of music though opera is a stretch...My favorite movie is "The Godfather" followed by "Godfather II," commercial, entertaining and replete with timeless Greek and Shakespearean themes....
