I am sarcastic, turbo, and NON curmudgeonly.
My Self-Summary
I have a tail. It's no whale tail, but it sure ain't no pug tail.
Once, I put my pants on backwards and my tail stuck out of my
zipper all day. You may not get to see my tail, but be assured it
is there.
I love to travel. I do not get to travel as much as I would like,
but I still manage to get out a bit.
I did Peace Corps and I will do it again someday when the timing is
everything but perfect.
I'm a Gemini, so I simultaneously want to be an outlaw and a
sheriff. Go figure. This also means I could very well be the life
of any party. Things have changed and I have become much more
mild/mature/responsible with my oldmanhood. I could have my head in
the oven and my feet in a bucket of ice water and I'd tell you I
feel average.
I crave knowledge.
I like old things. Old bikes, typewriters, stools, paintings,
artifacts, candlestick holders, people and the such.
Hardwood over carpet EVERYDAY.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a dabbler, so I'm always diving into something, seeing how it
works and possibly moving on to the next thing...physically and
figuratively.
I work at a not for profit in education for the children of migrant
farmworkers. I crisscross the state during the summer. I love it.
If it were abroad, I may love it even more.
I’m really good at
Happy hours and jokes. I'm pretty good at patience, sometimes. I
have a really hard time being mean (to any degree) to anyone, so
maybe I'm good at being nice.
The first things people usually notice about me
My briefcase full of unmarked 100s handcuffed to my wrist.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I'll get to this later, seriously (lie). Okay, here are a few
movies: Coffee and Cigarettes, The Story of the Weeping Camel,
Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Persepholis, To Be and To Have, Capote,
It's the Great Pumpkin, others....gosh, leave me alone.
Music: Tom Waits, Arcade Fire, NPR, Leon Redbone, Bebe, Julieta
Venegas, Jorge Drexler, Jarabe de Palo, others...again, leave me
alone...
Food: Pupusas, Pequod's, others...
The six things I could never do without
Fermentation, humor, entropy, photosynthesis, travel...those are
the only five things I need.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
what I should eventually type here.
On a typical Friday night I am
somewhere along the spectrum of going to bed at 9pm after reading
something and preparing to get up very early, to getting completely
wobbly with some friends and a few too many cocktails.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
My Mother's maiden name is Hanson.
