I am Sarcastic, Salacious, and Irish.

My Self-Summary

I adore music...SOooooooul music to be exact...am a big believer in self-embetterment...conscientious...full of life....active (I do not own a car for numerous reasons)...i can watch some football BUT I need beer to assist me in this activity...can handle uncomfortable silence...hate white milk (blech) but like chocolate...smarter than your average bear...quick witted...

What I’m doing with my life

I just moved back from Chicago, which was after I lived in NYC for several years. I tell ya, I should have just skipped the whole Chicago detour and landed right back in Milwaukee. Chicago...meh, I just wasn't married to it like a lot of other people were/are. Before I moved back (to go back to school for American Sign Language) I found myself seeing shows in MKE instead of CHI simply because the transportation and ticket STILL came out to be cheaper than seeing the show in Chicago. Loco, non?

I’m really good at

* 'cleanin' the floor with ya' after a game of Scrabble

* Making up my own Slang/Verbalogy

(In the same realm)

*Over/mis-using quotation marks

* Getting the person at the register in Target to laugh...

* Un-making my bed..

* Sass

The first things people usually notice about me

Definitely my hair. "OMG! You look just like SJP!! (Sara Jessica Parker)
That's when I clobber 'em.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

David Sedaris: the old stuff
Catcher in the Rye, Frannie & Zooey
Charles Bukowski (His poetry really stands out)
Playwrights: Christopher Durang, John Patrick Shanley, Beckett, McDonaugh

MUSIC:
Sharon Jones & the Dap kings, Roy Ayers, The Spinners, Carla Thomas, The Staple Singers, Stevie, Antiballas, Rickie Lee Jones, Dan Hicks & the Hot Licks, Men At Work, The Pointer Sisters, Nina Simone, Blossom Dearie, Cole Porter and the old jazz songbook standards, Tribe Called Quest, ...I don't really keep up too much on the new stuff but am always interested in hearing it. Oh - I also have this new found love for Journey and the likes of that 'rock poppy' genre. Be careful before you fight me on this. I have a great, well thought out arguement as to why they were a great band.

Fave Bands to see LIVE:
Sharon Jones & DKs, Steven Bernstein & the Millenial Territory Orchestra (the guy has a 'slide trumpet'!!) Andrew Bird (solo, in a small venue), Sufjan Stevens, The Roots, Afro-Beat Project, Tight Phantoms.....
I think the best 'live' recording of music is Curtis Matfield Live at the Bitter End in 1971. It goes down as one of those moments in history I truly wish I could have witnessed.

MOVIES:
I am a convicted cinefile and really enjoy Indy films way back when they were 'actually' indy films. Other than this...Miller's Crossing has to be my favorite flick of all time, It's a Wonderful Life, The Thin Man series, Willie Wonka (the old, creepy version)
I am DYING to see 'The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T' again. I have very vague memories of this movie and can never remember to pick it up when I am...picking up movies.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

...I actually pretended to be 'deaf' when a panhandler in nyc was hounding me for change for the subway. I signed and 'told' him that I was deaf and couldn't understand him and he totally backed away from me, kind of like I had it worse off than he did. It was really interesting.

You should message me if

You get my sense of humor...or, there-abouts. It is something I value to the nth degree and am so happy when I find people that, not only understand this, but also practice it. The drier the better...or you could also be a sopping sea sponge...just have a sense of it.

The only 'cosmetic' request I have is that you be a bit taller than 5'9". If you have ever ridden in the Preakness or Belmont Stakes, chances are we will not 'connect'...literally and figuratively speaking.
