My self-summary
Rocking on the front porch, watching the sky light up, flashes along the horizon as a thunderstorm roars in the distance. A front yard full of wild flowers as high as your knees. Lounging in a beach chair in the middle of the sand and pebble bottomed river, on a hot day, with nothing but the sound of water rushing over smooth granite. A few beers, some sweet iced tea, beer or port wine, floating in a cooler nearby. Skinny dipping under a full moon on a hot, sticky summer night.

Born in the Midwest, relocated to Texas where I’ve put down deep roots. I own land – as every man should. 5 acres of wooded river property, deep in the heart of the beautiful Texas Hill Country – it's not my full time residence, it's just one representation of my commitment to create a “vacation every weekend”.

Above all I believe that life is full of endless possibilities. It’s about creating – creating what you want for yourself, your life, your friends.

I juggle making it to the gym, learning Jeet Kune Do, working on art projects, visiting the Drafthouse with friends, taking trips, reading, swimming at the Springs, dancing in the warehouse district, spending time with my boys, flying and finding time to remodel my vacation home. The second bedroom of my apartment in SoCo is as much a workshop/art studio/maker space as it is a place for friends and family to overnight.

I will admit that I do not enjoy taking dance lessons. While working on the Salsa my lovely instructor complemented me on my “naturally rhythmic” swinging hips then, with her next breath, harshly proclaimed that I SUCK at learning the steps! Choreography apparently is not my strong suit.
What I’m doing with my life
I’m a coach, mentor, manager and executive. People look to me for direction all day long. After work, I tend to reverse that – being a “yes” to requests and suggestions. Wanna go dancing – YES. Wanna get a bite and see a movie at the Drafthouse – YES. Wanna spend all weekend in bed - YES. Wanna eat some minnows in exchange for a cheeseburger on a dare (it's true) - YES. Wanna attend Bedpost Confessions – YES. Wanna catch a TXRD match – YES. Wanna take a quick trip to the Virgin Islands – YES. Wanna go to Burning Man/Flipside – YES.

Wanna dare me to do something I've never done? Bring it on.
I’m really good at
Creating: I created that I wanted a "vacation every weekend" and spent a fun filled summer exploring the Hill Country. I settled on 5 acres of wooded, river front property with a fixer upper that I continue to enjoy remodeling.

Playing: I chose to "retire" a couple of years ago, bought an RV and traveled around the country for a while. I found myself bored hanging with 70/80 year olds so returned to Austin to get back to work and create the next chapter of my life.

Mentoring/Coaching: I advise a number of start-ups around town and try to stay involved with the numerous entrepreneurial programs in Austin. Friends often come to me for coaching on money and creating "what's next".

Keeping a neat house. Doing the dishes (by hand). Building stuff for the first time. Figuring things out.
The first things people usually notice about me
That I’m animated and my eyes disappear when I smile.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn inspired me to build a raft out of logs I cut with a hatchet I got from Santa when I was 10 years old. Unfortunately, someone (unknown to me to this day) used a chainsaw to turn it into firewood before my inaugural launch.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy taught me that all you really need when you travel is your thumb and a towel.

Got my first view of sexuality from the female point of view when I discovered my mom's copy of The Happy Hooker.

I escaped Missouri to bounce around the South thanks to Jimmy Buffett's Tales from Margaritaville.

The 4 Hour Work Week gave me the direction I needed to walk away from full time work and live life "on the road" for a while and The Singularity is Near has me wondering if I can live long enough to join my children as part of the first generation in history to attain immortality.

I dance to whatever DJ Jesse Brede, Skrillex or Kaskade is spinning, relax while driving to the smooth jazz instrumentals playing on Watercolors and while in the country I sing along with every song they play on KNAF FM 105.7 "The Deuce".

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Getting back to the islands and how I can improve the sensuality of my surroundings.

I've noticed lately that I'm a bit fixated on smells and the way items feel. I used to sleep on high thread count cotton sheets but just recently tried satin (really like that the pillow cases stay cool during the night). Last week I stumbled upon some made of micro-fiber - these are even smoother than the satin!

I lit an incense over the weekend and am now being drawn to spicy, woodsy exotic scents. It's like the smell alone warms me up.

And I've got to find the perfect rug - something fur like, full and thick. Something you can sink your toes into. I'll likely end up making something myself.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out with friends doing any one of the numerous things I've already mentioned in this profile.

What I'd like to be doing, after a dinner of tapas at Malaga or filets and crab cakes at Bartlett's or a couple of slices of Home Slice pepperoni would be to cuddle up with an amazing woman on the couch for a good ole' high-school make out session while glancing (rarely) at the latest flick streaming on Amazon Prime.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Up until college I said "warsh" instead of "wash". My girlfriend at the time broke me of this by saying "what?" after each utterance. It took 3 days (I apparently did a lot of cleaning back then). Later that semester I dropped out of school to take a full time gig as a disc jockey at a radio station in "Wash"ington, Missouri.

Wow, I feel so much closer to you having shared that. :-)
