I am jocular, unique, and resourceful.

My Self-Summary

I am a very unusual person with respect to the modern world I live in. Without a doubt the little analysis box at the right side of my profile has already told you that, what with how I compare to "normal" guys my age and you specifically. I am classified under the Myers-Brigg system as being an INTJ personality type. I consider myself to be a Christian gentleman and value politeness and manners highly. I'm pretty quiet (at least at first), and people tell me that I have a great sense of humor. I guess that's about all I can think of at present.

If you would like to know anything more specific or in-depth, then you can message me and I promise I will try to respond.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm a biomedical engineering graduate currently in grad school for public health, and I intend to go to med school and maybe become a neurologist or a surgeon eventually. It would be immensely nice to win a Nobel Prize or something for my work, maybe developing a new form of treatment for different diseases. Also, I plan to be a writer on the side, and I'm currently working on my first novel, a fictionalized autobiography.

If I really had my way, though, I would be a career student because I love to learn. The pay for such an occupation isn't too great, however.

I’m really good at

tactics/strategy, sleeping, playing first base, identifying a movie after a single scene or notable quote, most academic subjects (not so much with physics), picking out the villain in suspenseful movies before they're revealed, procrastination, being quiet, being sneaky, making everyday situations intensely awkward

The first things people usually notice about me

I like to use big words...a lot. I also tend to talk as if I am reading a legal document out loud. This is true if I don't catch myself or if I get really excited while speaking. I also stop mid-sentence a lot, because I sometimes feel the need to add in background information.

I also like to make people laugh and think at the same time. Whether through jokes or zany antics, I always try to entertain.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

A) Catch-22, Frankenstein, Slaughterhouse Five, Crime and Punishment, Notes from the Underground, Siddhartha, The Glass Bead Game, The Great Gatsby, Paradise Lost (not a book, I know, but it's a classic), and anything by Jorge Luis Borges, P.K. Dick, William Gibson, William Shakespeare. Pretty much anything NOT written by Thomas Hardy is fair game. As for non-fiction, I like a variety of topics ranging from philosophy and history to science and theology to mythology/folklore and everything in between.

B) Most everything really. Seriously, I score in the 90 percentile or higher on every movie test this site has. A few random ones that I could mention are: The Matrix (I went to a science/engineering school...), Serenity, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Highlander, The Patriot, Braveheart, and Man on Fire. Those are by no means all of them, nor are they even close to being so. Also, I invite you to stump me with movie trivia.

C) Once again, most anything. I guess I try to stick more with various forms of rock, like alternative, classic, new wave, etc. Some examples of bands I would listen to include: Switchfoot, Foo Fighters, Relient K, Collective Soul, Postal Service, Guster, Hawthorne Heights, Jimmy Eat World, Straylight Run, Franz Ferdinand, Bush, practically anything made before 1990. This list is by no means comprehensive, though. I even like some country (mostly the old Outlaw stuff) and some hip hop. Classical/opera is also something I will listen to, as well as folk and cultural music from around the world.

D) Fried chicken, chicken parmesan, practically anything Mexican, Spanky's chicken fingers, Wingnuts, Cowboy/Smokehouse burgers (essentially a bacon cheeseburger with bbq sauce), Japanese, and so forth.

The six things I could never do without

1. God/Jesus Christ/Holy Spirit
2. Family
3. Friends
4. Knowledge and Information
5. Humor
6. Art (including music, visual, and performance types)

I realize that is rather vague, but I hadn't really ever considered the question before.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Everything. I just spend time thinking, period. Theoretical physics, philosophy, sports, what my next meal is going to be, movies, music, culture, history, literature, the human condition, cartoons from my childhood, world conquest, the color blue, penguins, the possibility of extraterrestrial intelligence (btw, not too likely it turns out), obscure 18th century German folktales, Babylonian religious rites, sub-Saharan Africa's economic impact on the diamond industry, gauchos, Scandinavian furniture craftmanship, diesel engines, and the synthesis of ether compounds are all fair game.

(Once again, half-serious. In short, I just think constantly about the most random topics imaginable. Now I am wondering if I spelled "imaginable" correctly...)

On a typical Friday night I am

1) I am sitting at my house, watching television and doing work on my computer (sad but true).

2) I am out with friends. This usually consists of going out to eat, perhaps a movie, and we all just hang out. Sometimes we play board games! (Just kidding on the last part. Sadly, games rarely happen.)

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Who knows? I guess you will just have to ask...

That is what messages are for, right?

You should message me if

...you have any questions about anything on the page and want clarification, or you just wanna talk (I really do like getting mail).

Winks are also acceptable, because to me they say, "I would like to message you, but I am pressed for time or don't know what to say." A lot of people tend to think of them as the person not taking the time to make an effort to write a message, but I look at them as a down payment on a future message.
