My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm an import from Ohio who is still more than a little star-struck with all the Bay Area has to offer. The city, the food, and the crazy things that happen here are all awesome, but what I really love is the things there are to do outside the city. I'm big into sailing on the Bay, biking all over the area, and hiking any random hill or national park I can discover. I'm not an exercise nut in the true sense of the world, but if I can't get outside and run around at regular intervals I get a bit stir crazy.

Outwardly I can lean a bit towards the silly side, but I like to think that underneath I'm a fundamentally serious person. I have really geeky interests in the ocean, ships, and anything remotely technical. If you have a simultaneous appreciation for both hard exercise and stiff drinks, we should talk.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
By day I work for a solar energy company here in San Francisco. I like to tell people that it allows me to save the planet and stick my fingers in electrical sockets at the same time.

By night I pretend to be a superhero that saves ordinary citizens from the unimaginable horrors of unspeakable villans. I also enjoy sailing, biking, hiking, exercise, adult basketball/frisbee/soccer/flag football leagues, beaches, road trips, and mission dive bars.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Sailing, swimming, keeping a straight face, and having good stories to tell. Having the decency to make up a good story if I don't have a good real one handy. Producing a random and extensive collection of facts about various subjects. Keeping you guessing as to whether or not I made up what I just told you. Being a mature adult despite a penchant for silly stuff.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I think most people's first impression of me is that I'm a goof. In my fantasy world I tell myself its clearly how tall, dark, and handsome I am.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
The last book I read was 'Bossypants' by Tina Fey, on the suggestion of my sister. I think parts of it were lost on me (maybe because I'm not female?), but an interesting read nonetheless. I'm also a big news junkie, the New York Times, Reuters and the Economist are my favorites.

My favorite type of moving picture is the documentary, and in particular reality-documentaries like a Dirty Jobs. I really like the BBC's version of Top Gear, and true to my oceanophile nature spend a lot of time geeking out to 'Coast Guard Alaska'. I also happen to think movies like Dr. Strangelove and Death to Smoochy are hilarious.

For music, I like full, heavy sounds. Mostly rock and electronic, with a good dash of 90's alternative. Some occasional top-40. In college I hosted a metal radio show for three years, which was a blast, but I don't pick that up so much anymore.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
A good story, made up or otherwise. A detailed scheme to go and do something ridiculous. Taqueria el Farolito, open water, Racer 5 IPA, and a good Dark n Stormy.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Whether I should keep renting an apartment in SF, or bail out and get a house in the peninsula/east bay. I love being in the city and all there is to do here, at the same time having the space for a dog and a second car could be pretty stellar as well.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Letting off steam. This usually involves a bar, or failing someone to go to a bar with, the gym.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
A Greenpeace activist on the street told me recently that 'those arms were meant for hugging Narwhals'.
