My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Life is a beach! Or at least it should be. I'm a widow- happy by nature and fun loving (but I can be serious, really). I love anything to do with being in, on, or near the water. If life was a sailboat, I'd be a sail. I tend to be a bit impulsive, adventurous, and often forget to think about the risks. I probably need an anchor. I am looking for a hero, a partner, a lover, and best friend.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
What am I doing with my life? Finally living it! Widowed young, I had felt life was over for some time. Now I am busy re-inventing myself and learning new skills and interests. I'm doing all those things I said "one day" I'd do. I am a nurse, and would like to take my skills some place to do some good- not just have a job. I love long drives and take many day trips to no place in particular. My passport is greatly under utilized, and that is something I plan to correct.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I am good at laughing at myself and the silliness of life. I am a strong swimmer, a fair kayaker, a mediocre fisherperson (hey it's called "fishing", not "catching"), and really pretty good at being outdoors. I am a passable cook (cooking requires creativity) and a lousy baker (Baking requires following directions exactly). I am an excellent listener, a great kisser, and a wonderful lover (and I'm humble. Humility is what makes me great!). I also have been told I am a very loyal friend.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My smile- always. People keep saying why do I keep smiling. Well, why not? There's a lot to smile about. Besides, as I get older I want the wrinkles to go up, not down. After that, my enthusiasm. I don't like to sit and wait for life to happen. I know too well how short life can be, and I plan to savor every minute of it every day if possible. Yes, and then there's my horrible sense of humor: The more terrible the pun, the better I like it. I belly laugh. I'm done with girlish giggles.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Favorite Book: To Kill A Monkingbird by Harper Lee. It's been around forever, but the story still is meaningful. Maybe more now than ever.

Favorite Movie: Groundhog Day. Yes, I know that may seem lame. It's a funny movie, but there's a lot more to it. Go see it again...and again... and again. I actually am going to Punxatawney PA on Feb. 2 to celebrate the event this year.

Favorite Music: Just about anything. And by the way, rap gets a bad, well....rap. I love live concerts. I have everything from Yo Yo Ma to Guns 'N Roses on my I pod.

Favorite Food: Well, I have a beach house in NC and I live in MD near the Chesapeake Bay, so it's Seafood, naturally
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Carla, Michael, Stephen, Jeff, Kelly, and Amanda. My 3 kids and their spouses. That's my fan club. Add 2 more: my grandson Evan, and my soon-to-be-grand daughter, who will debut in May, 2013.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How quickly life can slip away if we just sit around and let it happen. It amazes me that I am one of the few people I know who realizes the urgency to live life well every day.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Going out with friends, leaving to visit my best friend (who lives on the river, so I say it's my "Riverhouse") in VA for the weekend, or heading to the beach.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I am committed to live a philosophy of peace, kindness, love, and forgiveness- not for what it will do for others, but for the many gifts this attitude gives to me!
