My self-summary
I think my friends and family would describe me as loving, genuine, sensitive, trustworthy and fun, with an open and generous heart. Though I love my work and feel blessed to have a job I enjoy, my heart and soul lie in my close relationships. Always working hard to live my life in a way that’s congruent with my values, I’m a pretty optimistic, cheerful sort who tries to find the good (or at least the lessons) in everything I experience.

I love to laugh and believe deeply in the healing power of humor in even the most difficult exchanges. For me, joy comes in the simplest, most real moments - the tender touches, the shared laughing to the point of happy exhaustion, the deep and intimate connections. I’m drawn to funny people of emotional intelligence and integrity who appreciate how precious the small moments in life can be.

I love walking in pretty areas or just around the neighborhood, cozy afternoons or evenings inside with a good movie, getting lost in bookstores (true confessions - I have a hard time leaving without at least one book in hand), going to fun restaurants and enjoying intimate conversation or just exchanging stories and observations about life or the people at the next table. I’m very open to new ideas and experiences.
What I’m doing with my life
Working everyday in the often - but not always - fascinating world of labor relations; mothering my grown kids long-distance by being there for them when THEY want my support or counsel; trying to remember to be my best self in every situation I encounter (some days are easier than others!); having fun and staying open to whatever interesting things come my way.
I’m really good at
Being genuine; listening to and being present for friends and family; being a person of my word; finding the beauty and the humor in the everyday.
The first things people usually notice about me
Hmmmm – no idea. That I’m a warm person? That I’m short? That my hair is very curly (this element seems to be disproportionately commented upon by the friendly chronic inebriates I encounter near Pioneer Square during my work day)?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love to truly lose myself in a book when I have time, generally fiction with lots of character development. Recently read: Angle of Repose by Wallace Stegner; The Female Brain and The Male Brain, both by Dr. Louann Brizendine; The Invisible Bridge, by Julie Orringer; Sabbath: Finding Rest, Renewal, and Delight in Our Busy Lives, by Wayne Muller.

Movie-wise, I like drama, suspense, romantic comedies, small independent slice-of-life movies - mostly anything that is well-written and well-acted.

Though I don’t watch a lot of TV, there are a few shows I’m enamored of – e.g.,” Modern Family”, and my guilty summer pleasure, “So You Think You Can Dance?” I’m currently finishing up the brilliant series “The Wire.”

Ok, I admit it – I like a lot of pop music and can often be found dancing in my kitchen to CDs my daughter makes for me; I also enjoy most other kinds of music, though not so much really hard rock or anything very dissonant.
The six things I could never do without
Deep and true connections with the people I love, Anusara yoga, long walks, gratitude, giant salads, Honeycrisp apples
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Why things are the way they are and what’s the fairest and most loving way to approach any situation I encounter (of course, I’m not always successful at the latter, but I’m usually thinking about it)
On a typical Friday night I am
Probably having a glass of wine somewhere after a walk and/or yoga class.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Not sure about this one yet....
