My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm somewhat of a procrastinator and perfectionist, which is one of the reasons why it took me so long to finally write a self-summary.

Although I've studied physics and am kind of a science and computer geek, I do have a lot of other interests and sometimes a hard time prioritizing work over leisure activities.

I love travelling. I've been studying in Boston, USA, for a year, and spent 3 months in Latin America, to visit friends and learn Spanish, diving and some Salsa dancing.

When visiting other countries, I prefer getting to know locals, either through friends or via couchsurfing, and travelling with a backpack and maybe even hiking and camping, instead of staying at hotels or booking an all inclusive club vacation.

I like to listen to music, and to play or sing myself. I also tried arranging/composing myself and really enjoyed that, although I'm probably rubbish at it.

I prefer cats to dogs, but always wanted a squirrel as a pet, which recently became reality - I'm coddling up several squirrel foundlings, and they are SO cute. It means feeding them every 3-4 hours, also at night... but it's totally worth it.

I am a militant non-smoker, prefer watching movies in the original version, if I understand the language, sometimes I like to be surprised by going to sneak previews. I'm not doing enough sports, but would like to change that, if I found something that catches my interest or someone to help me fight my inner couch potato. At least the sports I do or did include somewhat fancy things like scuba diving or formation ballroom dance.

What I don't like: People who think they already know everything, prejudices, egocentrics, egoists, machos.

I like honest, open-minded and tolerant people. They should be just. Good listeners. Generous. Helping others without expecting anything in return. Uncomplicated. Believing in the good in people (Individuals. In bigger groups, people tend to emphasize their worst habits). Not afraid of admitting an error. Friends that can be trusted and relied upon. I like it if someone takes the extra time and effort (or rather, if it is no extra effort for them) to get little things right, like correct spelling on the net, including foreign names etc. :-) If you can play an instrument or like to sing, can make people laugh, have interesting stories to tell, share some interests with me, can teach me something interesting, I'd like to get to know you. Or if you're really good in bed :-))
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Not sure if I'm ever gonna finish my Ph.D. thesis while now working as a secondary school (Gymnasium) teacher for Maths and Physics in a suburb of Munich. I'm curious how that turns out. So far (2 years training, 1 year job) I still like it.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
- explaining things.
- procrastinating.
- listening.
- spotting errors.
- organizing stuff.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
That's what I'd be interested to know myself...

I've been told I look younger than I am - but this wouldn't be the first thing to notice, since you wouldn't know my age...

Also I guess it's only true when I'm not wearing a beard.

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
* friends and family / love
* music
* books
* the obvious stuff (sun, oxygen, water, food, vitamins, some inner organs, electromagnetism, my right hand... er, not only for what you might now be thinking...)
* I'm tempted to say internet/computer - but when on a camping/hiking vacation, I enjoy being away from it. Of course only, because it's for a limited time. D'oh. I guess I AM addicted.
* humor / fun

Oh, I just remembered a seventh thing...
* my wrist watch. I had it repaired a while ago and wasn't wearing it for a week... it was WEIRD! I missed it a lot... Also, I have my keys and my wallet and my cell phone with me at almost all times.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
actually anything that comes up. I'm quite curious and tend to google and look things up on Wikipedia, if I don't know much about them.

Whenever I need to fill out a questionnaire like this or write a free text, I spend a lot of time thinking about what to write.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
grading papers of students.

Sucks, right? Therefore I prefer the Friday nights that are NOT typical, where I'm at a friends' place at a birthday party or board game evening, or watching movies or having Sushi or Cocktails with friends, or something like that.

Not so much partying in clubs. Sometimes it can be fun, but it's definitely not "typical" for me.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I signed up on an internet dating site!
- oh, you know that already? Hmm... how about:
I used to be a WiseGuys groupie and often went to their concerts early enough to get a spot in the first row.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
- you like squirrels
- you think we have something in common
- you didn't write something like "that's too private" in the section "the most private thing I'm willing to admit". If it's too private, then it wasn't asked for in the first place. Pick something that is just not too private to tell, but only a little bit private... :-)
- you're either living in or around Munich and eventually might consider meeting in person, or you think we have so much in common that I could be interested in a penpalship
- you're willing to write me a few lines and start a conversation instead of just sending a wink and letting me do all the work. I believe in equal rights and not in traditional gender roles...
