My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
This would be so much easier if I was using Amazon as a dating site, instead of OKCupid. I could browse potential match recommendations based on previous dates, click the girls I liked to put them in my shopping cart, and have them delivered to my home for free, if I select enough.

So, OK, about me. I tend to have a pretty deadpan sense of humor. And pretty obscure. A lot of times people don't realize when I make a joke that I think is hilarious. Or maybe they do know, and just think it's a terrible joke, who knows?

I work nights, and some weekends, so I don't always have an opportunity to spend an evening with my potential match. On the other hand, I work a compressed work week, so my weekends are three or four days long. And I've worked at the same company for 14 years now, so it is pretty stable.

Yes, I am pretty geeky. I'm a lifelong fan of comic books, long before they became trendy at the local cinema. I read and watch a lot of sci-fi and fantasy, as well. However, I present a pretty normal face to the world. You won't mistake me for the Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons.

I tend to be laid back, even tempered, quiet. Maybe a little shy. Or boisterous and outgoing. Depends on my mood, and who I'm with. Most of my friends are people I have known for 30 years, and sometimes longer. They really are my family.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Working, playing, trying to keep my head above water. Same as everyone else, I expect.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Minesweeper. Seriously.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I love George RR Martin's Song of Ice and Fire books (and the Game of Thrones TV show), and anything by Neil Gaiman. No, make that *everything* by Neil Gaiman! Peter F. Hamilton is quite good, too, and what I've read from Michael Chabon.

Movies? Well, of course Marvel's Avengers, and the other superhero movies connected to them. I'm a huge fan of Army of Darkness, too. Some other favorites: That Thing You Do, The Right Stuff, The Frighteners, Princess Bride, and too many more to count.

For TV, well, I mentioned Game of Thrones. Walking Dead is coming up, which I'm excited for. Big Bang Theory, Craig Ferguson, Castle, Firefly, Star Trek (original series, primarily). And I love a good cartoon, from classic Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck to Justice League and The Brave and the Bold.

Musically, I admit it. I am a product of my upbringing. Late 70s and early 80s New Wave and post-punk. 70s power pop, and some classic rock, too. I also enjoy old, old country, and some modern alt.country stuff, like Rhett Miller and the Old 97s.

Food? Yes, please! I love Indian food, Chinese, Thai, Mexican, sea food, and a nice medium-rare steak. Not all at the same time, of course...
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My Desert Island Disc list (You know, the 10 CDs or albums you'd want to have with you if you were stranded on a desert island. Yeah, yeah. 10 CDs on a Six Things list. I'm cheating. Deal with it.)

The Late Show with Craig Ferguson.

My close friends.

A sense of humor... yours or mine. Preferably both.

My vintage blazers (I may have a fetish for shark skin).
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
A way to shave without using blades or chemicals. I think I've figured it out, but don't have the means or skill to go to prototype. If you're a chemist, or engineer with a broad knowledge of the physical sciences, message me. We can patent it and make a mint selling it on Shark Tank!
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
Message me if anything I've said here sounds interesting, or fun. If you are a rational, open minded, progressive woman who cares about the world around her, but still has a sense of humor about it all. Especially message me if you're smart, funny, and nice. Cute wouldn't hurt, either.

Or if you're a chemist/engineer who wants to get rich on Shark Tank with me!
