He who lives the most interesting life wins.

This is the philosophy I have adopted for my life. It’s all about living an interesting life. For me what is interesting is knowledge gained by new people, places, ideas and experiences. What makes these things really interesting though is how you apply this knowledge. In order for your life to be truly interesting you have to be doing something with it that inspires you.

I am inspired by community building, both on the micro and macro scales and everywhere in between. For a micro example, while I am in San Francisco I spend my time at a warehouse with 22 excellent people living in it. This community really cares about each other on a very personal level. On the macro scale, I spend much of my time working on stability in Afghanistan which I believe has an impact on the global community. If peace on earth simply means the end of war, that’s what I intend to happen in my life time. Some people call it naive, but it’s an interesting challenge. For the in between I work directly for Burningman helping make the event happen. The Burningman community is unique and powerful in many ways and it is my belief that it’s affecting a very positive change on our world.

So I am here looking for interesting people to have interesting interactions with or perhaps to even live an interesting life with.

I'm a computer Geek who travels. I recently moved to Oakland and every couple months I go to a developing country for a few weeks to work on humanitarian computer projects. I've done a bunch of non-military work "outside the barbwire" in rural Afghanistan helping hospitals and schools.

I spend the month of August every year building the network for the worlds largest volunteer refugee camp, Burningman. It turns out this is one of the best ways to learn about and try new technologies that can then be applied to developing countries. For example, the network I run in rural Afghanistan was drastically improved by what I learned from the Burningman network.

Sarcasm and letting you know what she said. I'm a fairly sharp cookie so that engineering stuff also comes pretty easy to me. Traveling is off and on my way of life so I suppose I'm good at that. I'm told I'm a good communicator as well.

My height is probably it. I am nearly two meters tall for those of you who speak metric. I do have a very deep voice so people on the phone comment on that a lot. Appearance and the like aside, I am often very outgoing and am not afraid to speak my mind. In fact I'm not afraid of much, which is probably why I am an adventure junkie.

Movies: Princess Mononoke (Anything Miyazaki) and Garden State to name two.

Music: Electronic, except dub-step. I've been DJing for almost 10 years now and I can get into just about any electronic music, but dub-step makes me want to be elsewhere. I also like live jazz when I can find it

Foods: I'm a sushi nut, love the stuff. I even make it on occasion. I can say from experience, the best food in the world is a tie between Japanese and Indian. When I'm cooking it's often something with my Wok these days

Comics: XKCD is amazing! I also am a fan of Sinfest, Diesel Sweeties and Cyanide and Happiness.

Anime: I am obsessed with One Piece. It's the longest running Anime series and is just amazing.

People, what makes them tick, why do they do what they do and what makes them happy. I love people watching in bars, human mating rituals are hilarious and you get a great vantage point from the DJ booth.

A mental journey I have been on for a while is thinking about what makes a community. I heard someone say something a long the lines of "fifty thousand people in five square miles does not a community make" and he was right. It's shared hardship that bring people together. It kind of sheds a new light for me on people who are going through hard times and their life. The people in Laos are the fifth poorest in the world and from everything I could see, the happiest and have an awesome sense of community. Life does not have to be easy to be good, in fact in some ways the opposite is true. So is the path of finding ways to make life as easy as possible the right one? Not for me!

Scoffing at the idea of a typical Friday night. I do not believe in such things, at least not in my life. There is adventure to be had I am going to have it!

I've kind of given up on the concept of personal privacy in this digital age, and I'm strangely ok with that.

I have several new piercings that have not made it into photos yet. These include my septum, and several in the top of my ear. I've been growing my hair out and I don't think any of the photos reflect that yet either.

I really like to talk to people who are in action working on projects that inspire them. To me doing something that inspires you is just about the most important thing in life. So if you are up to something with your life, I want to hear about it.

If you are not doing something that inspires you but want to be, that's an interesting conversation too.
