My self-summary
I'm a hopeless romantic. I love to laugh and to make others laugh. I'm a geek at heart and really appreciate geekiness in others. I have been an artist my entire working life and have just changed gears to go to law school. I love Shakespeare, both watching and performing, and I used to play in a dueling piano bar.

I'm newly divorced, and while I'm ultimately optimistic about finding someone special, I'm not depending on it. I figure this is a new journey, and I'm just going to enjoy the scenery along the way.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm totally changing it. I'm pursuing a completely new career and giving up what I've done my entire adult life. I'm also changing my eating and exercising habits because I've been married for quite a while, and I realize that if I ever want another person to mess with my stuff I'm going to have to make it all presentable again. Lastly, I'm obviously in a very different relationship place than I've been for quite a while - I've literally been married my entire adult life. So, the condensed answer is: quite a lot!
I’m really good at
Depends on who you ask. I've always gotten a lot of personal satisfaction from making people laugh. I have a pretty good singing voice, and I taught myself to play piano when I was in high school. I'm what they call "good in a room," meaning I can hold people's interest with conversation, I can put people at ease, and I can make speeches. I'm a very well-trained and highly experienced actor and director in the theater. My official mutant power is parallel parking. Other things come to mind, but they're not really things a gentleman brings up on the first date.
The first things people usually notice about me
How about I ask you this question at some point in the future?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I read a lot of fantasy; faves include Tolkien, G. R. R. Martin, Raymond E. Feist and Jack L. Chalker. Also love F. Scott Fitzgerald and James Michener. I also read nonfiction and am a huge Harold Bloom fan.

Movies: Dead Poet's Society, When Harry Met Sally, Prelude to a Kiss, Glory, Citizen Kane, Rounders, Shawshank Redemption, Wedding Crashers, Kick Ass, LotR series, Star Wars, anything by Jud Apatow.

Shows: Slings and Arrows, Breaking Bad, Damages, Mad Men, Warehouse 13, Game of Thrones, How I Met Your Mother, Sherlock, Top Chef

Music: Beatles, Elton John, Billy Joel, Barenaked Ladies, Ben Folds, Joni Mitchell, Counting Crows, Rufus Wainwright, 80s pop (I used to play in a piano bar, so I have a pretty extensive repertoire of classic rock/Motown/80s pop).

Food: Anything that doesn't involve guacamole or heavy spice. Ironically, Mexican and Thai are right up there. Go figure.
The six things I could never do without
1) the respect of my children
2) My iPhone/Pad
3) hope
4) my eyesight
5) theater
6) physical contact
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Why there's no cheese in Chinese food. They've got cows...
On a typical Friday night I am
Either watching a movie with my children, going to see a friend in a play, or frantically studying for finals.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm a crier, and I don't mean the people who loudly announce things in the town square. I cry at the drop of a hat. The national anthem. The poem "Barbara Frietchie" by John Greenleaf Whittier. Explaining Prop 8 to my daughter. It's pretty pathetic, really.

You should message me if
You're tired of guys who just want to get laid. You have a kind heart. You believe in redemption. You have watched Slings and Arrows, have any interest in Shakespeare, or you know how to pronounce the 1996 BNL live album title. You are one of those rare women who actually mean it when you claim that what matters most in a guy is a sense of humor. You're ready to be valued. You just want to hang out with no pressure.
