I think this is the hardest part of these sites, boiling yourself
down to a few (hopefully catchy) sentences. Right now, I am a
soldier, but hopefully not forever. I am a progressive, with some
embarrassingly romantic views on how the world should work. I am a
conversationalist, I love wandering conversations where after an
hour you don't know what you started talking about. I am a devil's
advocate, because its fun. I am trying to get a graduate degree,
but it will be on hold for a year or so. I grew up in
Wisconsin, but I wasn't
born there, and would love to live somewhere warmer. I am
definitely retiring to
Australia - awesome accent, great
weather, and basically everyone lives on the coast.
I am marooned in Mesopotamia, and constantly wondering why people
live in this part of the world.
"Papers in the roadside
Tell of suffering and greed
Here today, forgot tomorrow
Ooh, here besides the news
Of holy war and holy need
Ours is just a little sorrowed talk
And I don't cry for yesterday"
-Duran Duran
"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed
and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that
nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for
which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than
his own personal safety, is a miserable creature, and has no chance
of being free unless made or kept so by the exertions of better men
than himself."
--John Stuart Mill
But such is the irresistible nature of truth, that all it asks, and
all it wants is the liberty of appearing.
-- Thomas Paine
Comme tous les rêveurs je confonds la désillusion avec la
vérité.
Like all dreamers, I mistook disenchantment for truth.
-- Jean-Paul Sartre
Fortune, like the moon you are changeable, ever waxing and waning;
So at this hour, without delay, pluck the vibrating strings, since
Fate strikes down even the strongest man.
-Johann Andreas Schmeller
Protecting Freedom. Just kidding. I'm mostly driving around Iraq.
And being bored. Its definitely time for the U.S. to get out of
this country, we're just wasting time and money at this
point.
Trying to save some money. Planning the next year. Daydreaming
about
Summer
2010. Counting down the days until I'm in the States
again.
If I wasn't here, I would be studying for the LSAT and finishing a
Masters in Diplomacy. I'm really trying to avoid the real world -
especially in this economy.
Procrastinating.
Arguing.
Wasting too much time on the internet.
My big ole dumbo ears... lol. I'm not sure, I've been told I have
nice smile.

The Internet.
Books.
Movies.
Eyesight.
My limbs.
I really have been trying recently not to take much for granted.
Where I'm going in the next couple of years: more Army training for
sure, Afghanistan? Grad School? Law School?
Freedom Ride July 2010... where will my new bike's maiden trip be
too?
Basically three choices right now: On Mission, Preparing for
Mission, Resting up after Mission. I'm a day sleeper right now...
so I'll pretty much be up until 3 or 4 every night.
Where I want to be: alternatively staying in watching a movie,
going to a coffee shop with a good book, grabbing a beer at a
semi-quiet bar. All of the above with someone interesting and fun.
If you like to have long dinner conversations, or think I'm cute.
Or both. Preferably both....
