Ayn Rand's
The Fountainhead used to be my
favourite book, but recently I've gained three or four books that
have gained my top spot: Benjamin Hoff's
The Tao of Pooh, H.H. The Dalai
Lama's
The Art of Happiness,
Anthony De Mello's
The Way To Love: The Last Meditations of Anthony De Mello, and
Rand's
Anthem. I
usually carry two of the first three books with me at all times
nowadays. When it comes to books, I generally read a lot of
non-fiction and philosophical works, and when I read fiction, I
read more classical literature.
I don't really have a favourite movie. I haven't seen enough movies
to have a favourite. However, I have enjoyed
AI: Artificial
Intelligence,
The Fountainhead,
Definitely Maybe,
Home Alone,
and
Casablanca.
Music favourites are divided into Popular and Art. My popular music
favourites are usually bands in the realms of
power metal — particularly ones
that have unique instruments or folk elements (
Turisas and
Sonata Arctica are examples). As
for music in the Art genre, I adore
Arnold Shoenberg and pieces
that fall under
Holy Minimalism. For being a
music major, I don't listen to music constantly. It could be
because, as a music major, I listened to music all the time. But I
like to think I like to hear what everyday sounds like as
well.
I am open to pretty much all cuisine types under the sun. However,
I love
authentic cultural food
(none of that hip and trendy dressed up crud served at some
frou-frou restaurant made for the average American, for example)
and food that is very much unique to the Twin Cities. Outside these
categories, I like food that has complex flavours and is very
hearty.
