My self-summary
My name is Gregory. I usually leave a first impression where I seem like some sort of grungy nerd, but if you look deep down inside of me, you will find that first impression verified.
What I’m doing with my life
I consider myself lucky, and am grateful to everyone who has made it possible for me to have always had employment that I found to be meaningful. I have worked in the arts and social services, and never retail or the like. I have no illusions as to how lucky I am for that.

I'm fairly politically active, if you are not, that's no problem. But if politically active people bother and/or frustrate you, even better.
I’m really good at
Laughing. It's difficult for me to stay truly angry or upset. I'm pretty good at all types of strategy games too, always up for a challenge there.

I feel like if I wrote anything substantial here, I should just erase it and replace it with "I'm really good at being vain." Which I hope is not one of my strong points.
The first things people usually notice about me
Well, if I'm not right in front of you, the first thing you'll notice is my laugh. It is frequent, loud, and genuine.

Otherwise, you'll notice a tall gangly fellow who seems much too confident and assertive for a person who can get knocked over by a stiff wind.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Italian, Japanese, French, Microwavable, Whatever.
I love to try new food, provided it isn't seafood. It reminds me of alien guts, and I'd rather eat earth guts. Like chicken.

I have a disgustingly large movie collection of thriller and horror. A friend once called my film collection everything from "Bitches with Guns to Zombies on Fire". Unfortunately, two titles not (yet) in my collection.

I try to read a novel a week, mainly fantasy and sci-fi. I have literally read many hundreds, so if you have any literary questions fantasy or sci-fi related, I am your guy, haha. China Mieville, Juliet Marillier, Jacqueline Carey, George R R Martin, Daryl Gregory, Guy Gavriel Kay, and Kit Whitfield are some of the best current writers of all things fantastic. Read a novel by any of them, you will not be let down.

Grunge, New Wave, Synthpop.... in the past half hour or so I've listened to Brudershaft, Apoptygma Berzerk, Hole, Mazzy Star, Cocteau Twins, Broken Social Scene, Elvis Presley, Shiny Toy Guns and Dead Can Dance. As a snapshot of my tastes, I suppose.
The six things I could never do without
-My conscience
-Books (real ones, e-readers do NOT count)
-Tree shade
-Well cooked meals
-Middle Earth, Narnia, Westeros, Terre D'Ange and other favoured dreamscapes

...probably in that order.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What an amazing invention wickerwork is. How long it will be until my bookshelves collapse. How fortuitous it is that the two gas leaks in my apartment didn't kill me.
On a typical Friday night I am
Playing board games with a few friends, I have plenty (friends AND board games). Or reading, watching a movie... maybe just a few friends over and chatting and having dinner.

Every now and then I like to go see a play or a movie, or go to an open-mic night or a friend's show.
