versatile, eclectic, and really quite tall

My self-summary Propose an edit

About me?

The basic facts must be tall, slightly geeky and adventurous but you already knew that? I have hair well down to the middle of my back and am resisting pressure from friends (well just one friend) to have it cut. Over the years I've got a lot of mileage out of girls playing with my hair but I guess we'll see.

Other than that I play with computers professionally and am sometimes quite good at it, I play records and have a lot of fun but lack the on the fly tune picking which makes a good DJ.

I think I'm prone to ramble; stop me if I do that. Oh yes the other thing you should know is I can't spell for shit - if anything is spelt right it is luck or the spell checker - it doesn't mean I don't think it's important.

I live in London, the city I love and can't visualise leaving. It feels like home in a way that no other place ever does and despite a bit of a wander north of the river I am solidly a south Londoner - I could even get quite evangelical on the subject.

One of the things I do love about London is the energy here - my idea of a good night does not include staying in very often (you can do that during the week), I want to be out whether it is at a play, concert, pub, club, dirty squat or roaring house party - it is Saturday night and if I can afford it I'm not going to waste it. After all there are only 52 of them a year.

What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit

Life? I don't have time for one of those I spend to much time, in pubs and free parties (I'm not so fond of clubbing), beds and beaches to have anytime to have an actual life. The only reason I'm on the Internet at all is that I arrange so much of the rest of my life through the dam thing though not fortunately through OKcupid.

I'm really good at Propose an edit

Well what I'd like to be remembered for being good at are hugs, relationships, making people feel comfortable and being a great shag. The degree to which I succeed at any of these is highly variable. The only thing I am consistently assured I do well is talk bullshit, I seem to know enough about everything to dazzle someone who knows nothing and not enough about anything to joust with anyone who knows everything about something, fortunately this type of people are few and far between and I don't make it all of it up as I go along, just most of it.

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit

I'm tall, have long hair and big feet. A general excess of size I think is the key note.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit

Books, hmmmmm, well I read quite a lot and tend to ricochet around the genres a fair amount. Three recent books I've enjoyed might be Pattern Recognition by William Gibson, The Swarm by Frank Schtzing and The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand which I liked though she can stick her politics. I'm also loving Steve Jones rewrite of Darwin's Origin of the Species, Almost Like a Whale and next on my reading list is The Art of War which is a 4th Century Chinese military treatise which is a particularly interesting take on warfare which sits well with my own feelings that to fight is to fail, the best strategist will never have to go to battle.

However the things I always return to are Other Men's Flowers which is a Anthology and probably Leaves of Grass by Walt Whitman (bit to hackneyed to put in brackets though). I tend to re-read Neal Stephenson a bit as well though not the most recent tomes which I find a bit of a bore (is that the right boar/bore?). Poppy Z Brite and Hunter S Thompson get regularly revisited as well. I Quite like John Le Carre but I prefer thrillers to murder mysteries - mind bending clever-clever Sherlock Homes style stuff doesn't do it for me.

I think I have a pretty wide taste in film, people have accused me of having a taste for some really bad movies (Cutting edge, Me Without You, Point Break) but the reality is that I only watch really trashy movies on Sunday after an all nighter when you need something of that ilk - no surprises. My favourite films: La Haine (The French Trainspotting but so much more powerful), Stickmen (So you've never heard of it neither has anyone else which I regard as a real shame, since it isn't my favourite movie because of some inner need to be an elitist moron but it is a fucking class movie, look it up!), Late night shopping (a masterful movie in which nothing happens) and I'm tempted to put Layer Cake because putting La Fille sur le Pont might be interpreted as me pushing my self as some kind of French film buff which I'm not at all. Having written that I can't figure out why there are no Kevin Smith films in that list, there bloody well should be.

My god this really is turning into an essay - you can tell I'm bored today can't you. That and self obsessed I guess, I can't believe I'm really this self deprecating either.

My music exists as a great pile starting in deepest Rock (Stone Roses, The Clash), never had much time for Zeppelin or AC/DC but Deep Purple and Black Sabbath are there along with New Wave; The Talking Heads, New Order and . There was also a lot of Indie and while I still listen to Radiohead, GusGus and Holly Golightly, I drifted in my late teens into the fringes of the Goth scene (slimelight et al) and without really stopping for the Goth music ended up dancing to the Industrial (Ultraviolence), EBM (VNV Nation) and naturally ended up dancing to Techno. London Acid Techno and that is what I mostly do these days. There is a group of Labels called TrueLove and repetitive beats released by them make up most of my record bag. You see Drum & Bass in that paragraph? Well there are bits of it that are OK. Recently I've been buying lots of Dubstep and listening to way more Reggae, Dub and Dancehall than I used to as well.

Now I've accidentally revealed my self as a music snob we better see if we can out do ourselves in the foodie department. I'm completely addicted to Borough Market, I can sort of cook thought I have a tendency to view real cooking as an experiment in how high you can build the food up off the plate. Soft spots for Sushi, good bread, Lamb and mussels though probably not together.

Where can a warble on about how much I like the Tate Modern and the V&A, how much I love living in Brixton and even more in London?

The six things I could never do without Propose an edit

Trust is the key, the vibe of a big city (London that is) keeps me alive, a nice warm safe bed, but that doesn't have to be mine, Hard dance music - I love to dance but Euro-pop makes me homicidal - give me breakcore anyday, Cuddles & Hugs because that's what makes it all worth it.

In all honesty I don't see how I could not include sex as well.

I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit

Music, food and sex.

Maybe that isn't entirely true through. The only thing of any real interest is the way humans interact, their relationships, how they understand and fail to understand one another. So people mostly.

Been spending lots of time recently thinking about building a sound system, don't have a clue whether it will happen but it seems slightly more real than the pie in the sky fantasy that an 5k PA was only a few months ago.

On a typical Friday night I am Propose an edit

In the pub with a big group of friends and then on to dance to techno till sunrise on Saturday. Occasionally I take Friday night off if Saturday night is going to be unusually good free/warehouse/squat party whatever. Anyway free parties, by far my favourite nights out, are generally Saturday night affairs so Friday nights are Pubs with a few friends may be ending up in a Brixton club for some late night dance.

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit

I post on Urban75 as well, I used to go to Slimelight, still do sometimes, and I like the movie Top Gun which should be enough embarrassing things for anyone.

I'm none to sure about private though, I am perfectly happy to talk about myself till the cows come home given a suitable audience and if there were many no go areas in my life I would run out of subject matter pronto.

Everything above is a load of bollocks. I like to cuddle, drink black coffee and clear spirits in good company, preferably in London. I'm completely happy to meet almost anyone anywhere inside the M25.

How about if you find a spelling mistake?

I like big skies, quiet woods, walking in summer rain and International Klein Blue in the slow bits of life and big sounds systems, Acid Techno and dirty squat parties in the fast bits.
