My self-summary
Hello everyone! I am a shy, nerdy type when you first meet me but can be quite loquacious once broken out of my shell. I'm ex-military but I really didn't fit in too well there, socially. Not the military type. It occurs to me recently that I might not be nerdy by the standards of the bay area, but I've always fallen into that stereotype in any social group I've been a part of.

I consider myself an egalitarian. I believe everyone deserves the same consideration and rights regardless of sex, gender, race, beliefs, etc. I mislike the terms feminist and men's right advocate because they have both come to be associated with sexism in a way that I am uncomfortable with.

I have a strong dislike of pettiness in all its forms. Emotional intelligence and maturity go a long way with me.

I love cats, fencing, reading, and occasionally computer games.

ISTP, if you're into MBTI types. I'm not sure how that relates to finding an ideal match but I definitely think it's an interesting starting point.

I really want to meet someone with whom I can communicate effortlessly and comfortably.
What I’m doing with my life
Searching for my perfect career option - I have a promising career in logistics, but I find it unbearably boring. I need more intellectual stimulation in life, and I haven't found it in logistics.
I’m really good at
Making things happen, cooking, letting things go, and adventure. I wish I could bring in an outside consultant for this question, honestly.
The first things people usually notice about me
Apparently my eyes. I've been told by some that I have piercing eyes, others say sultry, and still others say intimidating. I guess it depends on my expression?

Note that I change my appearance fairly regularly, so the hair/facial hair in any given photo isn't likely to reflect my current appearance in those areas.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I'm a bit of a fantasy and sci-fi nerd, but lately I've been reading more non-fiction. I enjoy reading anything science related, whether it involve Richard Feinman, Stephen Hawking, Carl Sagan, or any of scientists of note. Also, I like readying about eastern philosophy. My all-time favorites are Dune, and The Picture of Dorian Gray. A song of ice and fire isn't bad either.

Movies? I don't watch them too often. I really liked The Man From Earth, I enjoyed the LotR series back in the day, I thought A Clockwork Orange was a pretty good adaptation of the book. Oh, and I identify with the characters in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

As far as music goes, I have a wide variety of favorites. My all-time favorite is Tom Waits, but I also listen to NIN, Rammstein, Mumford and Sons... Hell, I'm all over the place. Recent favorites are VNV Nation and Covenant. Can literally never go wrong with some triphop.

For my current favorite:

Food is something I'm passionate about, but not in the way you might expect. I don't care all that much about eating it, I just love to cook. It's like a form of meditation to me. I enjoy inventing new recipes and sometimes just picking some ingredients and outright winging it. Always seems to turn out well.
The six things I could never do without
My computer
Human companionship
A well-stocked kitchen
Cats (or any mammalian friends, really)
Intense physical activity
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Life, the universe, and everything. I love thinking about the concepts of physics and science in general.

I try to spend some time every day in a state of self-reflection, taking a mental inventory of my thoughts and feelings.

I spend a lot of time thinking but I tend to be focused on tangible things, not constantly stuck inside my head.
On a typical Friday night I am
Trying to turn a pleasant evening into an epic adventure.

Attempting to do something atypical.

If all else fails, on reddit.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have PTSD. So there's that. Fun. I don't like to talk about it, and please don't ask me if I've killed anyone.
You should message me if
You enjoy good conversation, need someone to talk to and don't have anyone, want to meet and have some fun, or are just plain curious.

I am unlikely to message anyone first, so if you have any hope of making a connection it's a good idea to say hi or something equivalent. Preferably followed by something interesting or relevant.

Oh, and I've been wanting to try playing D&D so if anyone has a group I can join please let me know. I DM'd a lot back in high school and never got to play. Seems to be a thing people do around here.

It's important that you're at least accepting of polyamory.
