I am bright, embarrassed, and uncertain.
My Self-Summary
I am well-aware of my intellectual snobbery. To some degree it is
an amusing pose, but it would be dishonest to deny that some is
real. I love
film,
literature,
music,
philosophy,
science and
theology. I do not love
parties, and I should not love alcohol - but I am somewhat fond of
it nonetheless. I am psychotically hostile to smoking. You'd have
to know me better to know whether I have any other psychoses.
What I’m doing with my life
growing older without getting much wisdom
I’m really good at
speaking convincingly about subjects beyond my expertise.
discussing Chinese and Japanese film (this is not entirely beyond
my expertise, see above).
remembering my dreams.
extraordinarily good long term memory, but erratic short term. (I
am terrible at memorization, but excellent at recalling whatever
has finally sifted down to my long term memory banks.)
The first things people usually notice about me
my voice: Many say it is pleasant, but when I hear a recording of
myself I think I sound affected and smug. I am from Maryland, but
my accent is harder to place - Mid-Atlantic, perhaps, but certainly
not Baltimore. I was extremely tall for my age until junior high
school, but a lot of people caught up with me after that, so I
don't stand out that way as an adult. I haven't lost any of my
hair, but it's just now starting to gray (except for my beard,
which went white several years ago). I can be very clever with
friends, but appear rather shy with new people.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books/ the works of Mark Twain, Herman Melville, Henry James and
William Faulkner. Movies/ the works of Masaki Kobayashi, Akira
Kurosawa, Chang Cheh and Lau Kar-leung. Music/ classical, blues and
jazz Food/ Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indian, Thai.
The six things I could never do without
1. eyeglasses 2. books 3. dvds 4. music 5. asian food 6.
conversation
I spend a lot of time thinking about
those failings I have best concealed from others.
On a typical Friday night I am
reading or watching a film - mostly on DVD. My collection is
excessively large, but not full of popular hits.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
that I am a rather private person.
You should message me if
you don't mind not receiving a response. I use OKC almost
exclusively for the tests, and am not looking for love.
