Made the leap to the left coast in late 2011 from the frozen hellscape of the Northeast. While I appreciated the hardscrabble sensibilities and dark senses of humor cultivated by living beneath a sheet of tundra for 7 months of the year (hyperbole? probably), I thoroughly enjoy the sunshine of Norcal and will likely stick around for a little while.

Looking for some folks who might be interested in hiking, going to catch some live music or theater, or any other fun outddorsy activities. Friends welcome.

A healthy dose of interest in politics or music goes a long way.

I'm have a career in making children cry. Well, not always. BUt the response of most 2 year olds to visiting the pediatrician is an emphatic, "Nooooo!" But hey, it's a living. And the popsicles are free.

Now that I'm hitting my stride in my career, I'm eager to explore some of my other interests, including art, cycling, improv and water polo.

I'll be finishing up my MPH at Berkeley shortly. It was a whirlwind 11 months. I'm hoping to parlay this degree into some global health research. Carter Center, I'm looking at you.

Confidently walking off elevators at the wrong floor, cooking, knowing the lyrics to 80's sitcoms, balloon animals (It's weird, I know, I'm a pediatrician, remember?)

Favorite books: Mysteries of Pittsburgh or anything by Michael Chabon really, The Children's Hospital (it's about UCSF!), A Prayer for Owen Meaney, just to name a few

Favorite bands: Yeesh, this one is tough. I'm one for indie and alt country; The National and Wilco are personal favorites, but the list is long. You can't beat Coltrane or Davis on a Sunday morning too.

Favorite movie: High Fidelity, Empire of the Sun, Pennies from Heaven

Pen and pad, salt, my music/record collection, dark beer, someone to keep me grounded
