My self-summary
你好! ^_^

I am a left-handed INTJ. Whatever that means.

I like to challenge myself by regularly doing things that force me out of my comfort zone. So far this has resulted in a degree in mathematics, moving across the country to start a life in a town where I'd never been before and knew absolutely no one, coaching elite athletes (and learning from Olympic medalists!), writing & editing a textbook, engineering for an aerospace company, pursuing a career in tech, and now learning Mandarin.

I live and love honestly and intensely. To share a life with me, you must be active, engaged, purposeful. Otherwise you won't be able to keep up. It will also be to your benefit if you are a morning person. :D
What I’m doing with my life
Pursuing a career change! I recently figured out that programming allows me to do what I love about math (creatively solve problems!) without all the formal proof writing.

I'm almost always learning something new. Right now I'm learning Mandarin and Spanish, and I'm taking an online computer science class to continue improving my technical skillz. Fun! ^_^
I’m really good at
Handstands!

And whatever else I set my mind to. I get that from my mom. Thanks mom!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books (Non-Fiction): Walden. I read mostly non-fiction, so there's really too many to name here. I do have a particular fondness for stuff by Oliver Sacks and Richard Feynman.

Books (Fiction): I just finished A Wild Sheep Chase, and I think it's a safe bet there will be a lot more Haruki Murakami in my future. Other enduring favorites include The Sound and the Fury, Moby Dick, and pretty much anything from Jules Verne. Ooh, and Sufi poetry.

Movies: A Beautiful Mind, The Avengers, Bridesmaids, Mulan, Wall-E (robot love!!)

Music: Explosions in the Sky, and I can't get enough of that womp womp unce unce unce. Also, anything that I can get away with singing badly in my car - usually 90s boy bands. Sorry I'm not sorry.

Classical Composers: Most of the Russians, plus Vivaldi (really though, who doesn't love Vivaldi?). I get that from my dad. Thanks dad!

Pokémon: Pikachu

Comics: The Oatmeal, xkcd, Foxtrot

Musicals: Rent, Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables

Food: Chinese, Indian
The six things I could never do without

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Elegant solutions.
On a typical Friday night I am
Snuggling on the couch with my special person (could this be you??) or having dinner and playing board games with friends. Or going for a run to burn off the stress of the week.
You should message me if
You're a dorky introvert. You take your work and your relationships with friends and family seriously, and not too much else.

Bonus points if you can help me with Mandarin. :)

谢谢!
