My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hi, I'm Shi! It's my name (no, really) and also a facet of my personality. I'm a little nerdy and slightly goofy. Not in a slapstick way, but in a awkward and occasionally in my own world way.

As shown by my name, I am shy and a bit of an introvert. Once I feel comfortable around someone, they may wish I returned to that shy personality. When comfortable with you, I talk...a lot.

I grew up in Maryland, moved out of the area for a while, then moved back about 5 years ago. I moved to Baltimore from DC about a year ago. It is such a cool little city and I am totally smitten. I am no longer making the ridiculous Baltimore to DC commute, but found a job a little closer to home. I have so much more times for activities!

I have a coffee addiction that rivals Lorelai Gilmore or Dave Nelson.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I believe I can change the world and love tech, so I am in nonprofit tech. I have moved from more of a hands on tech role to a more project manager role. I will not lie, I do not miss the daily tech support. Most of the actual hardware tech support I do now is family-related. Currently, I work with system and data management for a social services nonprofit.

Outside of work, I homebrew, normally in fruity or honey varieties. I'm a huge hockey fan and have realized it is the only time I watch proper tv, as my cable box always seems to be on CSN. Now that I am no longer commuting 4 hour a day, I think I need to take up more hobbies to fill up my time.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Sitting in the car for extended periods of time. I love road trips, but feel you should only stop for something cool or gas. No unnecessary stops.

Playing darts after 1.5 beers. Proven to be the sweet spot of a game of cricket or 301.

Remembering what other movie or TV show "that guy" has appeared.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
As cheesy as is it, probably my smile. Though, now that I am growing my hair out, probably the curly maelstrom it has turned into.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Movies and TV Shows: Anything that can be described as charming, nerdy and/or slightly snarky.
Firefly, Buffy, IT Crowd, Parks and Rec, Eureka, and Warehouse 13. I'm a huge Whedon nerd, even enjoying Dollhouse. My favorite TV show of all time is Gilmore Girls. It is my go to marathon.
Admittedly, I do not watch as many movies as I would like. I would not go so far to say that my favorite movie is books, though. Movies that I can watch over and over are the Before... movies with Ethan Hawke and Julie Delphy, LoTR and Amelie.

Books:I always have my kindle or a comic or two in my purse. I'm drawn to sci fi/fantasy, generally. I love the Harry Potter books, anything by Ursula Leguin or Margaret Atwood and the Belegariad/Mallorean. Plus tons more. Oh! also travel literature. I have to reread Blue Highways at least once a year.

Music: I love Belle and Sebastian, The Decemberists, Thao and the Get Down Stay Down, Tori Amos, Rilo Kiley. I am always up for seeing a show, especially because DC/Baltimore have so many great venues.

Food: I am open to anything. I love finding new restaurants and trying new things. The only thing I can think that I do not like (may incur the wrath of the women's health industry with this) is yogurt. As a condiment, yes, as a potential lunch, yick. I also love scotch, the peatier the better! Does it taste a little like dirt? Yes? Sign me up!
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Judging by the contents of my purse: wallet, ridiculously oversized sunglasses, hand lotion, small tablet, 10 pounds of change, and tissues. Hm....maybe I should clean out my purse.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
My mind is going nonstop and tons of things are flying through there. At this moment, how do so many people take self shots in the car and do it so well. Are they driving? That seems unsafe. If not, why are you taking a picture in the driver seat? Is the lighting really good?
This is not a criticism if you happen to have one. I truly do not understand it.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
While Friday used to be my relax at home night, it has morphed into relax at my local bar night. The outcome is the same, unwinding after a probably crazy work week.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have been known to play Magic the Gathering. I even have a special accessory I wear when I play. And I will add play very poorly.

You do not mind hearing rants about the ending of Battlestar Galactica or how Miss Piggy is a feminist icon after a few glasses of wine.
