My self-summary
I'm tall. I love writing, talking about writing, and occasionally reading writing. I can play guitar but don't take it terrifically seriously anymore. I can be sarcastic. I absolutely relish inappropriate humor at extremely inappropriate times. I keep weird hours and weird books.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a senior and a double major in religious studies and Jewish studies here at IU, but I tend not to interject either of those into conversation unless solicited to do so. The way various religions came about fascinates me and I plan on doing research in this field for as long as I can. Who doesn't love a great origin story?

I'm in a sketch comedy group that does bi-weekly shows. My fellow members lack filters and lines as distinctly as I do and it's wonderful.

Working on starting a mental health website centered around writing pieces from talented 20 somethings around the country, advice columns, and dealing with current issues and the stigmas related to mental health with the ultimate message of "this gets better."

I currently live in Bloomington and hope to continue on in a master's program here.
I’m really good at
Writing, breathing, angering passersby. Holding a conversation about virtually anything. Really. Cars, literature, sports, music, history, politics, grilling, fashion, remodeling your house, and the Okapi. But I'm more interested in what you have to say about any of those things or your very own wildcard. I like talking to people and hearing them talk. You learn a hell of a lot by just listening to people telling you what they think.

In terms of less marketable skills, I can blow about a dozen smoke rings with the right cigar. I can dress well and pick the right watch for the right suit (and the right shoes for the right dress, for that matter). I can do basic repairs on various things on my vehicle, and I can tie the hell out of my shoes.
The first things people usually notice about me
My height is always the first thing, unless I have one of my pipes out, then it diverts attention. Usually people find me easy to talk to. I'm a fairly personable person.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Heller, Thompson, Burroughs, Siken, Vonnegut, Dostoevsky, Sedaris, Klosterman, Chabon, Nabokov, Kafka, Hemmingway, Zizek, Tolstoy, Tolkien, Sartre, Gadamer, etc.
My bookshelves are a combination of a book about basketball, classic literature, Marquis de Sade; crazy, angry men; 2 Tanakhs with the Hebrew and different translations, a Qur'an, a couple different translations of the Bible, Buddhist scriptures, a Talmud tractate, and a few Taoist books. There is also some Klosterman and Sedaris.

Way too many films. I am a junkie. Most of the AFI top 100 is up my alley. I adore Cohen Bros. and Tarantino films. The Big Lebowski, No Country for Old Men, Inglorious Basterds, Pulp Ficton, Fargo, Jackie Brown, Barton Fink, you get the idea. I also love stuff like There Will Be Blood, most anything with Daniel Day Lewis always works. Huge Jeff Bridges and Bill Murray fan. I'm not above guilty pleasures like Snatch, Wristcutters, or, hell, even Anchorman. Fear and Loathing, Lost in Translation, The Life Aquatic, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, The Royal Tanenbaums, A Beautiful Mind, Catch Me If You Can, Gladiator, American Beauty, Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Dark Knight, Blue Velvet, Rubber, Lisztomania, Death Bed: The Bed That Eats, Brazil, V for Vendetta, Children of Men, M, The Score, Goodfellas, Momento, Run Lola Run, A Dirty Shame, Tokyo Drifter, etc etc.

I don't watch a ton of television anymore, but I do follow Mad Men, Community, occasionally Parks and Rec, and then Colbert and The Daily Show. I watch Dexter obsessively when whole seasons are available. Not entirely sure what that says about me.

I do sincerely and intensely believe R. Kelly should be the next Poet Laureate of the United States.

My iTunes makes little to no sense and can't really be described here. Basically there's a little Elvis, Sinatra, Bluegrass, Kotke, metal, a TON of Zappa, Matisyahu, the obligatory Beatles and Dylan, folk, punk, art rock, acid rock (things like King Crimson). There's Atmosphere, Mykki Blanco, Common, the Roots. I'll try anything on for size once, old or new.

Same applies to food. I'm at the stage in life where I'll try anything once. Recently have gotten into spicier Thai and Burmese foods, but I love mediterranean food, Italian, legitimately made Mexican food, etc. I'll eat anywhere, your pick.
The six things I could never do without
breathable air
carbon
polar liquids
protein catalysts
sources of energy
The Dutch olympic curling team's pants.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Life, the ins, outs, etc. Anything from really trivial things to political theory, to currency exchange, to the fabric of reality, to whether Freddie Mercury would've been as killer without the mustache (protip: no).
On a typical Friday night I am
Emulating either John Waters, Jimmy Stewart, Christopher Walken, or an unstoppable dynamo-hybrid of the three.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm kind of a dog; in that I am literally a dog. I have four legs, can't sweat, and compulsively try to fight my reflection in various surfaces.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 19–25
  • Near me
  • For new friends
You should message me if
You'd want to hang out, if you want to chat, if you want to visit the edge of the universe for a while, if you want to do more. Shoot me a line and lets do people things.

Or if you want to huddle under a blanket with something warm to drink and listen to A Prairie Home Companion, especially message me if you want to do that. NO ONE under 50 wants to listen to A Prairie Home Companion.
